The shoes for walking in the grass to help get more water to the lawn or wherever you’re using them is a cute idea. It was very easy to assemble but It was a little time consuming to poke each spike through and pretty much make ourselves, I love that the retractable straps or buckle is very easy to wrap around your boot or shoe and stays together and in place. Easy to walk in unless your in too much of a wet area you might sink in a little.. item is as described and very helpful made with good quality materials that feel and look like it may last quite a while. As long as properly taken care of as you would any other shoes or boot. If you’re looking for something and don’t want to spend tons of.money on a entire shoes or boot already made and ready to go then this is a good route to take for a cheaper price and still have the quality and outcome. These lawn aerator shoes are awesome for spring and fall when it's time to lay seed and feed the lawn. In the past, I've used those manual hand tillers where you have to do that bulb-digging motion all over the yard—it takes absolutely forever, and my hands and body would always hurt afterward. These shoes are just so simple by comparison. You just slip them on right over your regular shoes and walk around. I use them on my 1/3-acre yard, and it makes the whole process a breeze. Plus, the box even shows that they can be used when planning to epoxy a garage floor, which is a sweet bonus feature. Highly recommend if you want to save yourself the physical aches! Only annoying thing is you have to put the spikes in yourself and that’s time consuming but overall not a big deal…also packaging could be perfected

I ordered the HFH Lawn Aerator Shoes with 26 Spikes, Spider Buckle Design. I have wanted a pair of these aerator shoes for a long time since I have a larger tool that takes too much effort. I never had to worry about these things when I had big dogs constantly playing fetch since all their running with nails digging in kept thatch at bay and it well aerated. The first year the dogs were gone not only did my heart feel it, the yard started to look very rough in all ways. Moss took over, thatch was too high, and it was not the thick and luscious lawn I was accustomed to after nearly a decade of perfection. The shoes themselves are made of plastic, and they are sort of a medium thickness. The front has shoelaces to tighten them, and the back has a ratcheting buckle like on roller blades to get them tight. The ratchet mechanisms work fine, and these seem better than the shoes with just fabric straps. I also feel it secures my ankle better giving me more stability and safety. Even though I think these are better than many others, they are entirely made of plastic except the spikes. I have seen some that the bottom portion was made of steel. I'm a small woman with a size 8 shoe, and they fit me okay. I realized quite quickly I might not have enough weight on my body for these to work the best since I'm only 105 lbs. When I walk around in them the spikes do go into the ground, but some spots it feels like it's not completely flush. Just walking around the yard and pushing them in as far as they will go wasn't hard for me on my particular lawn, but I can see how it could be. Maybe it was easier for me because of all the moss or just since I'm child sized, I don't know. I can tell how labor intensive it is will depend on the lawn and probably how much weight is being pushed into the ground. I also think the body can naturally expend too much energy since it's strange. If I just relax, walk, and take my time. I walked in several directions and focused on any areas I saw excessive moss, extra thatch, or any other issues. We've done this a couple times in the front and backyards. It's late spring right now where the ground is moist but not soggy since that wouldn't work well. I also put these on once when mowing the grass since I felt that kept me accountable on what areas I covered. Some don't recommend it, but it worked for me, and it was fun. Now, aeration and these types of shoes will depend on what kind of lawn you are dealing with. I don't have heavily compacted or clay soil, and it's not the soggy time of the year in early spring. I tried to use my other aeration tool that looks like a pogo stick and dandelion weed puller during that time, and it was a nightmare constantly clogging things up with muddy clumps where I eventually gave up. This time with the weather and shoes is like a night and day difference and so much better. I have seen online people talk badly about these saying they don't do anything if they don't pull up plugs or can make things worse with compaction, however, in my experience, that's untrue. It's not going to be the same as a heavy duty aerator tool or machine with plugs, but it can still do a good job in the right conditions. It just will not work on all lawns or all situations, so you have to use common sense, know your lawn type, and work with the natural elements and weather. If you have underground sprinkler heads, avoid them. I fertilized after I did this. These are very sharp and can be incredibly dangerous so be careful. I have read some people hurt their ankles while wearing these and they recommend wearing one at a time. That's not my experience, so I can't relate. I would probably fall over if I just wore one. One problem I noticed was after the fourth time I used these I noticed two nuts fell off. That is my fault for not tightening the bolts after every use, I just didn't think about it. It looks like you can order replacement spikes online which I will have to do eventually. I can't speak about longevity until longevity is reached, but so far these are actually fun and easy to deal with, however, you need to know your yard, and make sure you tighten them after every use, thank you.

Easy to put on over your shoes. Easy to walk in. Very useful for aerating your yard just by walking around. No need to walk in perfect rows or patterns. Just walk as you normally would around your yard. Does not leave unsightly plugs of mud all over your yard. Helps your watering reach the roots of your lawn much better. Highly functional. Great value for the money. Highly recommend.

The setup is straightforward to put these spikes together, and it comes with a small wrench to tighten the spikes. The buckle that holds these at the ankle is a bit difficult to operate. Now comes the outdoor test, and that's where it becomes interesting. They certainly make holes in your grass and aerate the soil, but it's a bit of a balancing act walking in these. This is what I imagine walking in high heels feels like. And the strap really digs into your ankle. Granted, I was wearing sneakers, and perhaps with boots, that wouldn't be a problem. But with sneakers after 10 minutes, I had to take them off. The overall construction is ok, but once the rivet in the strap breaks, these can go straight to the trash. Time will tell how long that takes, but I'm pretty sure that's the point of failure on these. If you have a small and mostly flat lawn, these are faster than a typical lawn aerator tool, but I wouldn't walk a thousand miles in them.
