The first one I ordered, I looked at the size chart and ordered a large. It was big enough to flip up my hoodie and was still loose. Amazon provided free return service and I ordered the medium. Perfect fit! This helmet is unbelievably light. I weighed it at 21oz. It sits just right on your dome, no mushroom head at all. I have had the ratchet quick release buckle on another helmet and loved it. The straps take a little time to adjust just right, but once you land it, they are so comfortable on the ride. The helmet has a classic look that is low profile so no "mushroom head" here. I would say it is correct to size for me. It has a DOT sticker but in all honesty I don't know that it offers full DOT protection. It's definitely better than the novelty helmet that I was using though. Would 100% buy again. ... show more

I gave it a 5 because I don't know how well it holds up in a crash, and I hope I never do. I've been riding about 40 years and I only wore helmets when I had to and they were always full face because I could not wear those cool ones. Why? Well, because I wasn't born with a Fourhead... I've been riding motorcycles for a long time. I've probably bought eight helmets in the last 2 years. Can't find any of them to fit right. This helmet fits my head right fits low enough. Snug enough. One question I always have with helmets is whether it tends toward oval or round. My last half-helmet was made much more round, and my head isn't, so it was always uncomfortably tight on the forehead and didn't fit as low as it should. This helmet tends toward the oval (at least on the XL), so it fit my head much more comfortably and lower, conforming to my head. The padding is also very nice for such a compact, light helmet. These are hands down my very favorite summer helmets! They are very thin, low profile, and lightweight. We spend lots of time out on the road traveling on a Harley and often very long days. My first few helmets (other brands) were so thick and heavy and the bulkiness would seriously catch wind gusts like a sail, and yank on my head! By the end of a long day of riding my neck would always ache. Then I found these helmets and I will never go back! The first one I bought was the Matte Black, my son “borrowed” it for his girlfriend and I haven’t seen it since! With that helmet “missing” I had to use one of my other helmets, I was miserable and cursing under my breath at my son the whole ride. I quickly ordered a second helmet for myself. This time I ordered the black Carbon fiber print and I love it! When my husband saw it he had to have one too! We love the quick release chin strap, the low profile, lightweight and low bulk. Our mushroom half helmet days are over and we couldn’t be more happy! The helmets are marked with DOT rating. I can’t verify anything as far as the effectiveness of the protection.
