Replaced a Philips super vision plus max edge ultra bulb that costs over twice as much and supposed to work better but already died after one year. This light works as good as the philips. You just don't pay for the marketing frills.

While a lot of reviewers like to say "they seem brighter" or "they aren't as bright!" I figured it would be best to actually test. I did so by using my professional camera's light meter do the work. I set the camera at 2.5 feet with a 55mm lens from the headlight pointed at the brightest part of the LOW BEAM. The Hella lights ended up being somewhere around 1.15 stops brighter than the stock 2 year old halogens that were in my vehicle. This translates to 115% more light as f/16 1/5000 vs f/22 1/6400 was as close to equal as I could get as seen in my attached photo. As you can see, the hella's at this 1 1/3rd stop difference are very slightly dimmer but at 1 stop were a lot brighter so I split the difference and say it's about 1.15 stops, or 115% brighter. I've tried LED's in this vehicle (2016 Mercedes Sprinter with reflector headlights) and while they were slightly brighter at 150% the scattering effect that blinds oncoming drivers wasn't worth it. This is still far dimmer than my other vehicle with factory HID's but is much improved over stock. I also tried HID's in this vehicle and they were extremely bright but every driver flashed their brights at me so it wasn't worth it. HOWEVER: These aren't compatible with my mercedes Sprinter van. The Canbus freaks out and they start flashing after a minute or two and turn off, thus the 4*. ... show more

Bought these to replace the stock bulbs on my GLE350. Swapped them out for the high beams myself after watching some YouTube videos. Haven’t driven with them at night yet, so can’t attest to how they are on the road, but you can see from the photo that they are very white in comparison to the gross yellow halogens in the low beam (which I later replaced with Phillips Diamond Visions). I considered an LED conversion kit, but was scared off when I read what a pain the install could be. Overall, I’m definitely satisfied with this purchase. Hopefully they’ll last a while, but if they don’t, at least I learned to change the bulbs myself. :) ... show more

Nice bulb. Installed on driver's side in a 2011 Miata. Looks brighter than stock bulb, comparing with passenger side. Clumsy me dropped the bulb on the floor trying to clip it in. After cleaning it with some rubbing alcohol, it looks to be working fine so far. If it goes out prematurely, will probably order the same thing, but be more careful installing it. ... show more

Installation was simple and headlights are, well, hella bright. AutoZone was charging nearly four times the price for a Sylvania equivalent, so I'm chalking up another steal here, courtesy of Amazon.

    • Forget LED upgrades, just get this - much simpler and quicker

After trying out 2 LED conversion kits for my Mazda 3 2005 car, I just ended up getting these bulbs. They fit exactly like the factory bulbs that came with the car (getting the LED bulbs fitted was a hassle and with black spots and focusing the beam, the LEDs were less brighter). I was able to change both bulbs within 15-20 mins. They are definitely much better than my worn out bulbs. I'm changing after 15 years so I cannot tell if it is brighter than my original bulbs when I bought them :) ... show more

Can't comment on longevity, just installed a day ago. Brightness is outstanding, and installation is dependent on various things and different applications. But if there is room for your meat mittens, it's simple. I will never get anything, headlight related, other than Hella brand again. Had their 100w bulbs, non blue tinted, in my previous vehicle and loved them. These are just as good, maybe better, and definitely have the nice bluish white look. Ordered and returned another brand, that was just a bit less expensive, had the same level of blue tint to the bulb, and they absolutely sucked, basically they were dangerous. For the price, don't think there is anything better. Even the ones that rhyme with "ilver-ars" don't come close. Was concerned about the projector style low beams with this color of bulb, no worries there. Ordering the same Hella in the 100w high beams very soon. Thank you to Amazon for the simple return policy for the previous bulbs, and the very fast standard shipping on these. ... show more
