Description

Matilda is a functional universal backpack inspired by that American classic - the ALICE backpack. Each external pocket has a back channel, and drawstring adjustable sleeve. The main chamber flap has got two big pockets. MOLLE/PALS ribbons are sewn in several places externally. There are compression straps at the sides. The carry system is based on plastic-stiffened back fitted with breathable mesh pads and anatomically shaped straps. Wide detachable hip belt is also included, with PALS attachment points. Capacity 35 Liters. ACCESSORIES / EQUIPMENT shown in pictures is NOT INCLUDED

I have been looking for a Bushcraft backpack for a while now that was medium in size and I stumbled upon this helikon-tex Matilda backpack and after watching a few videos on YouTube and reading some other reviews I decided to purchase from Amazon. I wanted something molle compatible, lightweight, and with enough space for most of my gear. I also wanted something that was quality and will last me a decent amount of time. I also didn't want to pay a lot of money for something that I'm going to be carrying through the woods and abusing pretty hard on my adventures. My initial impression of this backpack was that it is sturdy and has enough room to store everything I need and after transferring all the stuff from my old backpack into this I have to say that this backpack is more superior than most I have used. I can organize my stuff way better and in a less cluttered and easy to find way. This backpack has a plastic support piece with an aluminum bar down the middle so it stays stiff and is really comfortable on the back. the shoulder straps are also very comfortable and very sturdy and do not feel cheap whatsoever. The waist strap also helps to keep the load on your hips and works fine but I will probably switch it out for a better one. Just personal preference. It can be removed easily. So I decided to wait until I went out in the woods and tried it out to give a review and I have to say that for a hundred dollars that this was one of the best purchases I've made for the outdoors. JUST BUY ONE. I love every single thing about this bag. It’s roomy and wears PERFECTLY.. I am 5’10” and 200lb.. I have it at around 30-40 pounds depending on what I wanna do.. it’s so comfortable! I can’t fill it up and yet I am still going to add a canteen pouch to the outside just because I can! My shovel and hatchet are secured to the outside and I have room for more. WORTH THE MONEY. I was very exited to receive my Helikon-Tex Bushcraft Matilda Bag. I haven't used it due to the polar vortex, but will use it soon, snow or no snow. The 3 pouches in front are perfect for my cook set, firekit and first aid / toiletries. Main compartment large enough for everything I need for 3 days. I'm a tall guy, so it sits a little high - I don't see adjustments for lengthening the back support, but will wait until I hike a few miles under-load before I complain. This is one of the best packs on the market. I have used it almost daily for two years, for everything from carrying books, to weekend backpacking trips, to 12 mile ruch marches. It is light, solid, and comfortable. Well worth the money!
