Have been using for years …the bluebirds love it…I have a feeder hanging off my back deck and they are the first birds I see every morning…one morning as I was watching the bird feed I noticed it flying up on the eaves of the roof line. I kept watching it go back and forth and saw 4 baby birds sitting up there in a row with the Mama feeding them. As I watched she would fly down and get one worm and feed the first one, then the 2nd one , the 3rd one and finally number 4. Then the mama or the daddy bird would start over. I have not idea how they taste or any info related to their flavor. I'm happy I can actually touch them and put them in the feed bowls of the girls. I do know my hens love these treats. They are a treat to augment their protein intake.

    • The chickens gang up for mealworms

I enjoy feeding these mealworms. All I do is walk out with the feeder cup and a riot breaks loose in the chicken yard. Some of the hens will actually fly onto my arm to get to the mealworms first. There is absolutely no waste. 100% eaten - gone! A great source of protein.

Here in Massachusetts the bluebirds are back full swing, and we really enjoy watching them. They are great team workers. I've been getting a different brand of mealworms, but they were temporarily unavailable so I ordered these. The 'guests' at our mealworm feeder are gobbling them up so obviously they are just as good as the other brand. These come with less packaging too, so I think I'll stick with this brand.

    • Many empty mealworm shells in the bag

This is definitely a great price. (Live mealworms went thru the roof!) The most recent bag of these I bought has many empty shells included. Do dried worms dry out totally in a sealed bag? The last part of the previous bag also had many shells. I know the mealworms are dried but with so many empty shells the birds haven't been eating them or fighting over them since many are empty! I have new bluebird babies born really early this year on Apr 5th. I've been soaking some of the dry mealworms in water, then draining them for the babies. Birds won't eat them soggy. ... show more
