We purchased this calendar to surprise our teenager who loves Harry Potter. The pop-up tree is gorgeous. Much bigger than I expected. We are leaving it open all season as a display. I highly recommend this calendar.

We have opened 3 days so far. Day 1 wasn’t the item shown in the book or example pictures. Days 2&3 matched items that the book shows should be coming closer to Christmas. I don’t know if this is how all books are or if mine was made incorrectly.

My daughter is excited for the Harry Potter theme calendar and so was I. It was impressive pop up when we open it. It was confusing at first. The instruction was on the wrapping paper outside of the book. Would've been better if it's integrated with the flow of the advent? As we go through advent, the item revealed was suppose to match up to the number on the book where she read about them...or so I thought at first? So she navigate through the entire book/manual to find the matching item of the day - kind of defeat the whole purpose of the surprise factor. Say maybe if the book is index tabs then it may be better? Now that I think about it, maybe we meant to read the entire book on the 25th??!?!? That could explain why the parts look new and out of sequence still? I didn't realize the owl was to deliver that.... Maybe it should have a sticker or has the envelope also numbered so it's less accessible? There is many ways to handle that for better flow. The back paper kind of shows its wings spread so that's kind of a spoiler. Because we spoiled it with the book too early and she's a super curious reader, she went ahead read all of that and pulled with the big reveal. Later she tries to put that back undetected and end up breaking part of it...Let just say she learned a lesson. 5 stars for pop up part of it and the idea is still awesomeand somewhat reusable. ... show more

    • Worst Harry Potter Advent Calendar Thus Far

I've bought a calendar or two to count down to the holidays, for the past several years. This one rates as the BIGGEST waste of money so far. At least other calendars had small candies, stickers, key chains, lenticular cards, etc. - but NOT THIS ONE. This calendar has only one thing - a series of 24 "tree branches" that fold down and have a small card-stock tag attached. These are described as "25 one-of-a-kind keepsakes inspired by the beloved Harry Potter films." You can't separate them from the calendar itself without destroying the whole thing; I'm going to wait until December 26th to decide if I'll do that or not - because really, if I remove them, what am I supposed to do with 24 card-stock items that are about 1" square (or round, in some cases). There is also one large envelope on the inside back cover, which I'll open on December 25th which may sway my decision. Until then, all I can recommend is don't waste your money - I really wish I hadn't. ... show more

This could have used more editing before being produced. Don't get me wrong, it's fun and I will continue to use it. The items for each day do not line up with the numbers in the pamphlet that comes with it. I went thru today to rearrange these. I found one ornament that doesn't have a day in the pamphlet. And the pamphlet has an ornament that is not present. I also noticed that based on the additional pictures provided in the Amazon listing on how these ornaments are to be displayed on the tree, all the ornaments are upside-down. Really surprised they printed this with these kinds of errors. On a positive note, this is an advent calendar that looks nice and the pop-up part is very detailed and well crafted.
