I'll start with the negatives. Wood is not perfect by any means. A few dents and paint can easily chip/scratch off. I even found a spot where you could get a splinter if you rub your finger across it. Another negative if this is for young kids, is that the corners and edges are pretty sharp (not in a way that can cut, but it will hurt pretty badly if fallen on). There is space on the top and bottom of bed between mattress and fence, which you can see a bit in the attached photo. Now the positives. This model has slats which we like so the mattress can get some airflow underneath to prevent mold. The mattress we used is 10in and you can see that the fence is still high enough. Pretty sturdy, though not entirely, when fence is climbed on. Overall, I really like the look of it. ... show more
