We bought this for my 17 month old daughter, so she'd stop grabbing guitar strings while mom, dad, and her older sister are playing. She loves strumming it and singing. This IS NOT A REAL GUITAR and will not tune like one, but it's a fun toy and toddlers will like it. She's a toddler so she's thrown it, dropped it, and stood on it and it's still fine. First off, this is not a real guitar, so do not expect anything sounding like a real guitar. It is lightweight and does not sound like a real thing. However, it looks really, really good. It's appearance is very impressive for what it is and the price. It has great coloring, shine and overall looks like a real guitar, albeit much smaller. You can tune the strings fairly easily by turning the knobs and it does change the sound of the strings. I am not a musician so I am not able to tune it properly, but I know enough about music to know you could probably get it close if you had a music ear. With that said, it likely will not hold the tune very long. But hey, its for kids and its a toy. If you want a real guitar, this is not the one. This is a toy and a great looking one at that. I haven't tried it, but I would think you could outfit it with real guitar strings and you may be able to get some decent sound. Maybe a good DIY project for a guitarist who knows what they're doing. Guitar was bought as a Christmas gift for our 3 year old daughter in October… unfortunately we did not open it beforehand to inspect otherwise we would have returned it. We are now outside of the return window and stuck with this cheap mess. There is a crack in the guitar that is not visible unless taken out of the box. Will no longer be purchasing any Christmas gifts that far in advance on Amazon. Very cheaply made. Do not buy unless you want to waste your hard earned money. ... show more

Purchased this for my four year old son for Christmas. It is the perfect size for him. It sounds okay, but the knobs that tighten the strings aren't very good and the strings become loose after strumming for just a few minutes. It's frustrating for my kid to have to stop and tighten the strings every few minutes. It is also not super well-constructed. My son dropped it from a short distance onto the living room floor, and the front piece of the guitar broke away from the back and we could not snap it back together. It's definitely my son's bad for dropping it, but I would not have expected it to break like that from a very short fall. ... show more
