These are light, good-looking, strong and fit the checked-luggage standards. I have nearly every size of the Hanke luggage but this is my first top loading one and I'm seriously considering getting them all as top loading. The top loading makes it easy to keep open when I am traveling and doesn't take up as much space when open vs a traditional luggage that opens from the sides. It's quiet and I absolutely love the color. When I am not traveling, I use it to hold all of my camera equipment and it is well protected. I love the suitcase, especially the top opening for a hard case. However, the expansion zipper broke completely off on my second use. I thought, no problem, it has a 3 year warranty. I contacted the company through the warranty claim on Amazon. What a mistake. It was all done via chat. They expected me to fix the zipper. Sent me the parts and directions. The directions did not match the parts. The next set of directions did not match the suitcase. I told them I was not comfortable nor capable of fixing this zipper and requested a professional repair, new suitcase, or money back. They claimed they "reviewed" my claim and could not do this, but would continue providing support for me to fix it. I fought back and they finally said they would reimburse me for a professional repair. I finally got the repair done (and he said it was a very tricky repair) and paid for but it took TWO MONTHS. Now i have to buy covers for the suitcases so this never happens again. If you buy this suitcase, good luck if anything breaks. ... show more

I bought this suitcase because I was specifically looking for an expandable, clamshell-style design, and this seemed like one of the best, though definitely on the pricier side. After using it for one trip, here are my thoughts: Pros: • The design is sleek and stylish. I especially like that it opens from the top, it’s convenient and a bit different from typical luggage. • The extra pockets are a nice bonus and help with organization. Cons: • After just one round-trip flight to Ireland (and only being unpacked/repacked once), it’s already starting to rip/ come apart under the zipper. For the price, that’s really disappointing (see photo). • The top lid of the clamshell feels pretty flimsy and thin, which makes it seem less durable overall. Despite this, the suitcase itself is quite heavy. I didn’t pack more than I normally would (I usually travel carry-on only) but it still ended up being overweight. ... show more

This suitcase is awesome, bought it right before I left on vacation (Arizona) it may seem small but fits more than you think. I am a small person I have small clothes, my sister who is tall got the next size up. Concern was the handle, and it held up great I had another small carry case hooked to the handle and had no trouble. It's the perfect size and weight.
