I got the 20 inch front pocket suitcase in the greyish blue color. Huge pluses: - beautiful grey-blue color and textured surface - sturdy shell! Strong enough for me to sit on top of and roll a bit (but I'm 110-120lb). I researched so so many suitcases online and 99% of 20" suitcases are NOT sturdy enough for sitting on comfortably. Edge case, I know, but I thought it was important to me. - The wheels are SO smooth! - unique top opening design is easier to pack than traditional clamshell designs and fits on hotel luggage racks - handle seems okay? Though I didn't test it much. - Carry on sizing! With wheels and handles I roughly measured the exterior dimensions as 22"x14"x9.5". The half inch probably doesn't matter so I'd say this is one of very few suitcases on the Amazon that actually meets carry-on sizes. (Cough cough, Samsonite carry on suitcases never meet the size!) - given the sturdiness, price point seems pretty decent but I'd be hesitant to pay more than $150 unless zipper design is fixed. I was honestly on the fence about returning because of being able to sit on it (airports don't have enough seating!) and because wheels are so good. However, I ended up returning this after a lot of deliberation. Here's why: - I really disliked the zippers and zipper pulls, and was not confident that they'd last. The weird wavy/angled design of the zipper pulls (which only makes sense for locking) made it a little hard to zip compared to straight zippers that are shorter. I would much prefer standard zippers and for the TSA lock to be on the side instead. - while top opening design is great and the size is true carry on, it comes at the cost of really tiny interior packing space. Granted, I'm used to a fabric carryon without 360 wheels, so that's not a fair comparison, but I feel like this suitcase wouldn't fit much more than a large backpack's worth. - in this particular model I did not like the implementation of the front pocket. You have to open the first compartment, then unzip again to get to your actual clothes. It just felt cumbersome and odd to me, even though I'm not constantly opening and closing my suitcase interior that much. - Not expandable, in case you need that flexibility. Probably good to have some give, but that'd sacrifice the other feature of being able to sit on it. - a bit pricey for the compromises (mainly the zipper design) - Other reviews said warranty and customer service is not good and isn't honored? But that's minor to me. TLDR - while there's a lot of great benefits, I ended up returning because the suitcase zippers don't seem sturdy, and I think I need a little more space in my carry-on than this neat front opening design allows for. That is ultimately why I will not end up buying the no-front-pocket one. It's very hard to have perfect product design and this case's innovative design comes very close, but not good enough for me. So I'm going to keep looking, and at this point I'm convinced I have to get a clamshell if I want to prioritize space :(

The biggest size they had left was the 20 inch, but it's ok cause it's still big enough to be a carry on luggage. It feels sturdy and just has a nice look to it overall. I love how the first pouch you open is just for electronics or other things, and that there's still another layer to open before it's just your clothes being out in the open. And I love how it opens like a door, rather than the whole suitcase opening in the middle, I feel like it saves space when you need it open where ever you're staying, and it leaves the whole suitcase to be this big pocket to just fill up, rather than filling up both sides and trying to jam them together. The locking for the zippers is super nice too, just a little added protection from accidental opening or theft.

I wanted to wait until we had a major trip before writing a review. We completed a 22-day trip overseas and this luggage handled spectacularly. Here is a breakdown of what we wanted, and how it performed: Hard shell that won't crack or dent- I literally tripped trying to get both mine and my wife's suitcases onto a shinkansen (bullet train) and drove my knee with 190 pounds behind it right into the the center of one suitcase. Nothing. No damage at all. Wheels that move and don't break- Japan has yellow raised textures on the sidewalks for the visually impaired throughout the cities, it can can play merry havoc with suitcase wheels. These wheels danced right over them and always stayed on track. On smooth surfaces the suitcases felt like they were floating. Side note: Put the suitcase on its side when on a train or hill, if you cannot hold on to it, the suitcase will take off on you! Zipper: So far, so good. Easy to use, didn't get stuck, and didn't come open. Lock and zipper pull-tabs: the built in lock is nice, but I know just how rough airlines are, almost all of my past suitcases have had zipper tabs ripped off. I used a suitcase cover to ensure these were protected. I wish the company had a little bump-out on either side of the zipper lock so that the zipper pulls would be better protected, but we had no issues. FRONT OPENING!!: This was a really big deal for us. We wanted hard shell, but I hate the clam-shell designs that are everywhere. Hanke got it! It worked perfectly. So happy with how this functioned. We had a Delsey, front opening suitcase, and the zipper really could not handle the corners, just not a good design. The zippers failed too quickly, which was a shame, because otherwise Delsey makes a good bag. Handle: So comfortable and easy to adjust. I like a recessed button so that I am not constantly changing the handle height accidentally (looking at you Samsonite). Size: We got the 26-inch and thought it was overkill, but we wanted a slightly larger checked bag because there is no option to expand this suitcase. We left for Japan with half-empty bags, and they were packed when we came home. It was relaxing not worrying about organizing and space for the return, we just shoved everything in, and still came in under weight. Again, it was a longer trip, and we picked up some nice ceramics on our travels (nothing broke on the way home, the hard-shell did its job!) but maybe a smaller one for week-long trips. Hard-shell and color: Let's face it, white is going to show everything, but I'd rather be able to pick my suitcase out at luggage return and the suitcase covers not only protected the zipper pulls, but kept the scuff marks off the luggage. The luggage was strong! Very strong. Overall: I have to say, with a few domestic trips, and its first international under its belt, these suitcases have proven to be the best we have had in ages. At this price-point, I have not had anything perform as well- and I have gone through a few! I have been so frustrated with wheels that don't track, handles that break, zippers that fail, or soft-shells that look like box cutters were taken to them during loading. Let's put it this way, even if the wheels had broken off, I would buy this suitcase again. We brutalized the luggage this trip, and it took it all. I fully expected something to break at some point, just the fact that it didn't has made me a fan.

I was not sure if this suitcase would stand up to the rigors of airline travel because I have had numerous other brand suitcases damaged over the years! This suitcase delivered! It really took a beating-some of it I witnessed!. The body did not scratch and the wheels held up well! I purchased the 26inch it was the perfect size for a two week trip. I LOVE the zipper top opening instead of the clamshell like other hard suit cases-really makes it so much easier to open and close! I will never buy another clamshell opening case again! I plan on purchasing a smaller version of this case for weekend travel!

I have another luggage that opens like a book and it was annoying using it in my last trip. I don’t take out my clothes from my luggage (unless they need to be hung) for short trips. So it sits on the luggage stand. Opening and closing was such a hassle. Now with this luggage, I don’t have those issues. It’s deep enough to fit lots of stuff. It’s also really light and has a handle on the side too.
