Just got this. Ordered up a size, got large instead of medium, since some reviewer said the shirts will shrink. It’s definitely heavyweight, feels and looks well made. But, my, it’s huge. Looks like an XL, not large. I hope it does shrink some, otherwise my husband may have a new shirt. Update: soaked in hot water , with a little soap, and hung out to dry, making sure it was bunched up a little and not stretched. Yes, it did shrink. It fits just like I wanted, loose. Nice heavier cotton, not thin like most shirts. Comfortable. I plan to buy more of these.

Everything was good except the size. My son usually wears a large and my husband an xl. I bought those sizes and the large was more like an xl and was too big for my son. It did shrink some after washing but not a ton. I would still order because the quality and price is right, just down size.

Good shirt - durable - but won't loosen or soften up. It's got that super starched texture to it and I feel like I'm wearing malleable cardboard. Not a comfortable feel to it. And I ordered four of these damn things. Adios, Hanes.

I'm a nerd when it comes buying anything. I research crap endlessly, learning every spec, how something's made, where it's made, why certain options are bad choices. Shirts are no different. I've been on the hunt for THE shirt: The simple, unbranded, 100% cotton, fitted, cheap black tee that's actually "heavyweight". Forget all that gimmicky "prima, egyption, ringspun" garbage -- it's just an excuse for clothiers to sell you a thin, wrinkly, overly stretchy shirt that uses as little cotton as possible, and that'll probably fall apart in a year. And forget "cotton blends" (50/50 cotton/polyester or spandex). That garbage really is toxic over time, it fades in the sun and once it stretches, it's done for. Don't wear it. This is the shirt. It's that heavy, solid, almost canvas-like cotton you occasionally get lucky finding in a random graphic or band tee you buy at some retail store. Color of this shirt is true black. Not that weird hint of blue, or gray, or brown. Just black. This shirt fits great, which was my biggest buying factor beside the material and thickness. It does exactly what I want it to do. Shows off the chest and shoulders, just a bit of room in the sleeves. I'm 5'8", 142 lbs, fit/thin, I do moderate weight lifting and run, and I picked a Small as my test shirt. I'll probably wind up going with the Mediums, since I'm sure this will shrink and become a tad tight. But in my experience, shirts like these shrink exactly one size after 2-4 washes. So since the Small fits perfect out of the bag, the Medium will likely be my go-to uniform shirt that I fill my closet with.
