The seat back, foot rests, foot straps and 3-pt harness offer easy adjustability for children from 9 mo to 48.5 lb. Anti-theft locks with keys, a reflective back and optional spoke guard attachments provide added security and peace of mind. I’ve had this seat for about four months now, having lots of fun riding around with my now 18 month old. I am writing a review now because my biggest fear about having this came true and I crashed the bike with my son on board. The crash was totally my fault, being stupid (trying to carry something on the handlebars because we were just going a short way, and it caught in the front wheel), and had nothing to do with the seat being on there. The bike started to flip and then went sideways, so the seat came down on its side. But the amazing thing is that my son literally did not have a single scratch on him (definitely can’t say the same for me). He had a tiny little scuff on the temple part of his helmet and was scared of course, but otherwise totally fine. The seat was pretty scraped up so I guess that took the whole impact. I am so, so thankful that he wasn’t hurt and I do think that having such a quality seat made a big difference in keeping safe. So I highly recommend this seat, but be careful and always make sure you and your kid have helmets on!!! ... show more

I bought this bike seat to replace a cheaper brand that wasn't holding up. I'm so glad I bought it, as it is sooo much better. The seat is suspended and has a little bounce, which makes it so much more comfortable for the kids. I love that the foot rests adjust for different sized kids, as well as the back slides up and down. I'm addition, the seat reclines. This is great because I have a 1 and 2 year old, and I use it for both of them. It is removable, so when we put my bike on the car rack, I put it in the trunk for safe keeping. This is definitely worth the extra price. Don't cheap out when it comes to your children's safety ... show more

The seat has a recline feature which has been very nice for our 10 month old. I like that the back of the seat is higher than his head for comfort and safety. It was fairly easy to install once I found the correct placement for it to clear the seat and bike tire. The straps are easy to get on and off and hold our baby in very well. I tried this seat with my 40 lb daughter as well and although she fit safely in the seat, it was too much weight on the back of the bike to be able to control it easily. Once I stopped and was off the seat the back tire of the bike started to slide out from under her almost dropping her strapped in to the bike to the ground. So although this can hold 40+ lbs beware it may not be very safe. ... show more

Words can’t really express how satisfied I am with this seat. It’s the best! It was clear even from the careful packaging that Hamax takes pride in their product. The seat itself is well made and attractive. I found the directions to attach it to my bike clear and easy to follow, and I set it up by myself within twenty minutes or so. Once attached, it is very secure. My 18 month old seems to find it comfortable. When riding, it definitely takes a few minutes to get used to the different weight and center of balance, but the seat has its own suspension and kept my kiddo riding smoothly even on a bumpy road. The only problem we had was that we were so excited to try it out, we went for a ride right away...and unfortunately spring wasn’t quite here because it started snowing halfway through! However, our more recent rides have been more pleasant (and much warmer) and we can’t wait to keep exploring by bike through the summer. One thing to keep in mind is that I am not able to use back panniers with the seat on...might just be the way my bike is, but I have to put my front rack back on and use front panniers if I want any kind of storage/carrying capacity. Overall, I’m extremely happy with this bike seat and highly recommend it. ... show more

This is a very nice kids bike seat. Easy to install and remove for when toting a kid isn’t along. However for a large 3 or 4 year old it may be too small. The straps are really nice and narrow for little ones but rubbed on my older child’s neck and caused irritation. I absolutely recommend a hamax seat for younger kids, but I think for under 30 pound kids the front mounted seat would be a better pick. If I had to do it over again I’d get the hamax observer and transition to a ride along bike as my kid grew out of the observer. TL,DR: Great if you want a rear seat for an under 3 year old, but that size kid would be better off in the front mounted hamax observer. ... show more

Overall, I give this 4 stars. It looks nice, it's compact and my son seems to be comfortable the few times we've ridden it. Unfortunately, I probably won't be using it anymore because it's just too heavy on the back of my bike. If you don't think you can manage keeping your kid steady, don't buy this. My son fell over in it as I was dismounting my bike and because of the weight, I couldn't catch him in time. Luckily he had a helmet on and didn't have a scratch with the seat, so I do believe it is safe. The instructions are terrible. I had to email Hamax USA a couple of times to get the right fit and adjustments. They need a better instruction video. So, for installation process and design, I'm docking the rating. ... show more

This is a very solid kid bike seat. Safe, pretty comfortable for both kid and parent. Was surprisingly easy to install and to take off and on. Kid is a little bit close to your back even at the longest setting but I think you get used to it. We ended up returning this and getting one of the bike trailers (where the kid also pedals) but only because she decided to prefer that and started learning to bike herself. I wish I had gotten this product sooner. Company accepted return for full refund without issue. I had saved the box and packaging, which is very uniquely shaped. I love this seat I put it on my schwinn meridian trike and it fit perfectly.. I can’t use my basket while I have my son but the basket is collapsible so that’s fine.. The only reason I’m giving it four out of five stars and not five stars is because the straps are so close together that they rub on his neck and cause a mark.. I do plan on putting some kind of foam or padding to reduce irritation but other then that he absolutely loved it and so did I!! ... show more
