Description

This Hall Crystal Flute is handcrafted in Washington State, USA by flute maker James Hall. Starting with precision Pyrex glass tubing, it is sealed and carefully shaped to create a Boehm taper producing beautiful and accurate tones throughout its tonal range. After shaping and tuning the tone holes, the flute is decorated and kiln fired to fuse the decorations and insure durability. Each flute is a handcrafted work of glass art. This flute will arrive nestled in a classy foam lined dark-green storage box with gold stamped logo, along with a complete fingering chart. Free sheet music is avalible on the Hall Crystal Flute website. The Hall crystal flute is a folk or historical instrument and plays differently than a modern concert flute. The mouth hole has a raised edge and no lip plate. If you play the silver flute, this will take some time to get used to. The biggest difference is that you will need to place the flute higher on the lip and use a slightly tighter embouchure. Of course you can play any style of music you wish. Being a 6-holed flute it is well-suited for playing Celtic music and traditional tunes. It is also similar in design to the renaissance or baroque flute so is excellent for this as well.21701 Offset G Flute - White LilyThe G Flute is our middle-sized flute produces a tone that is a cross between the piccolo and the D flute. The tone holes are spaced such that an average teen or women’s sized hand can cover them. This is a good choice for the novice flutist.Lowest Note: G4 - (G above middle C) Range: 2 1/2 OctavesChromatics: Yes - (Using half-holes)Primary Key: G - (no half holes necessary)Secondary Key: C - (no half holes necessary)Offset Tone Holes: Yes

  • My 1st Crystal Hall glass flute
Color: White Lily
I've been playing a reg.silver flute off n on for some 40 years -- more off than on but due to this pandemic n home alot more I've picked it up again n really enjoy playing it -- recently I saw on YouTube someone playing a Hall's crystal glass flute-- never heard of a glass flute b4 -- I ordered the one in the key of " G"-- it arrived 2day n am greatly impressed with it's craftsmanship-- quality n sound -- have to get used to fully covering the open holes with my fingers but that will come in a short time-- flute players who are looking to expand their flute repertoire I highly recommend trying a glass flute-- n Google Hall's Crystal flutes --- comes with a one year warranty which now get this " covers even breakage "-- even should you drop it n it breaks !! REMEMBER it's made of glass you can't beat that !! ... show more

  • Great sound, beautiful workmanship
Color: White Lily
I purchased 2 Hall flutes around 1995, and continue to include them in instrument demonstrations for my music students. I have a D piccolo with Carolina decoration, and a G with a sailing ship. These instruments are beautifully crafted and tuning is spot on. The D has a clear, beautiful sound that is very strong. New players will want to start on a smaller instrument since the finger holes are easier to reach and seal successfully. Playing technique is similar to fife, fingering like tin whistle. The G is considerably larger, and like alto and bass flutes, the sound is not as loud as the smaller ones. The holes are spread out so I use a pinky for the bottom hole instead of ring finger. These instruments are wonderful, recommended for amateurs who are looking for something unique to try, and for flute players who would like to add something unusual to their stable of instruments! ... show more
