I wanted a cheaper "import" style RC car and was comparing MJX, HBX, wltoys, riaario, all the clones and copies. I'm glad I went with this one for the smaller scale. I haven't tried to intentionally break anything but it's been through a few tumbles and it's not been a problem. I don't use the included lipo charger, I use a gens ace and the little 2s batteries are ok. This thing has such a noisy drivetrain due to the metal gears so you can't run it quietly in the house but that's ok, I'd rather it be noisy and not strip gears! All the a arms and bashing bits are polymer so they shouldn't snap too easily, hopefully. Only thing is it looks like a pita to get into the diffs if they do require servicing, however it is all still hobby grade and there's dozens of YouTube videos on how to tear these down. Overall for the cheap price this thing is so much fun for what you get. I have it pictured next to my 1:10 arrma for scale comparison ... show more

Haiboxing, or HBX, is one of the leaders in the smaller RC category, and the 16890 is probably the reason why. The previous brushed and brushed versions of this vehicle are known to be just about bullet proof. They just flat out work flawlessly even with the beating that kids tend to put them through. This iteration doesn't disappoint. It is very fun to drive with great acceleration, responsive steering, donuts on demand, and wheelie capability. It is also balanced just right for jumping. It sails through the air at just the right angle and lands softly thanks to quality oil-filled shocks. This truck checks every box that I'm looking for in an RC vehicle such as: brushless power, metal drivetrain, 4WD, and a 3-wire servo. On top of that you also have headlights, heatsinks on the motor and ESC, a wheelie bar and spoiler, spare battery, and a set of paddle tires! The product info is now saying that you can use it with a 3S battery which is great. That will be much faster. Previous version have often been 3S capable but they didn't want to advertise that, but now they must be confident that this version can handle 3S. I would not run 3S for a kid driver because it's probably too much to control and a hard collision with a wall or curb can do damage at 3S speeds. The remote is decent, with several adjustments, but I can't believe they don't have a throttle adjustment so you can turn the speed dial down. That is the first thing you should include, and they have 3 adjustment dials but no speed adjustment. I really like to turn down the speed for beginners while they learn. The battery tray is a bit small and fits just a 1050mah battery, which limits what you can put in there. I hope they make that bigger for the next generation, something that could fit 1200-1800mah would be nice. Aesthetically, the truck looks great. I do like the orange wheel accents, but it would have made more sense to use a color that was on the truck, like green. Also, you often get a second shell with these size trucks, and they did not include on in this package. The shell is pretty thick and tough, though. Overall, though, I think this is a really great choice for a kid of any age. Lots of fun, and adults will enjoy it, too. It is small enough to run in the house if you're careful, but it will do best outside on dirt, asphalt, or gravel. HaiBoxing is a large company with good customer service, so you can feel confident you can get parts if needed and they will be available to answer questions, too. ... show more

This thing is amazing fast and durable I've been running the stock 2s 1050kmh 7.4v lipo lots of fun then I put the 3s11.1v 2200kmh WOW now I'm ready for the hbx 2997a can't wait. Remember y'all's have. Happy Rc ING
