Thought it would be cool to get cards that looked vintage, but these are just cool looking, like a Netflix fantasy series from no real time period, but from some made up time period that is supposed to be old. Some Jacks are female and one joker is female. Not vintage at all. It's actually very 3rd wave feminism instead. Jesters were never women. And Jacks were originally "Knaves", which is a male royal servant. Nothing vintage about that at all. My daughter doesn't need to be lied to about history in order to know she can be anything she wants to be. So dumb imo But they are cool looking cards. ... show more

We play cards a lot in the evenings, after only a month of playing with these cards, we had to buy a new deck. We bought a well known brand to replace these. These beautiful cards, frayed at the edges and began to feel different, sort of sticky. This is a fun and charming playing card deck. I'm a deck collector with a large collection, so some of my reactions may not be as important to casual gift-givers. The tuck box is very nicely designed, with embossing, metallic inked highlights and even a deck-specific sealing sticker. The tuck and the inner surfaces of the box are fully designed and both feature bright colors. 57 cards are included. Each joker features a unique design, and the 3 additional cards share the common back design of the deck, so they could be used in gameplay as extra jokers or missing cards. The spades and clubs feature indices in dark blue, almost purple, which adds to the colorfulness of the design; what little black ink is used is on the face cards in the animal noses and details. The suit pips are cleverly designed, and all share a left/right coloration. The face cards are charming, designed as the Playful Animals for which the deck is named. The animals are all front-facing and (understandably) hold no weapons, so those needing one-eyed jacks or "suicide" kings should look elsewhere. While the face cards are two-way symmetrical designs, the card backs are technically one-way designs because of the very small suits in the center, which have orientations. The design is very pleasing on the card backs, and all four aces feature a unique large center pip design.. The cards have a nice finish and handle well for cardplay; they are likely to be too thick for cardistry. I could find no printed country of origin or manufacture on the tuck box, ace of spades, nor the promotional cards. These compare to the Aquarius decks printed and manufactured in a quality China factory, although these seem thicker. These are not cheap souvenir playing cards; they aren't quite as nice as the very highest quality cards made in Austria, Belgium and the US, but especially at this price they are a good buy for gifting, collecting, or acquiring for family gameplay. This is a cute set of playing cards. The packaging is really cute and the company did a good job making them appeal to the purchaser. Unfortunately the cards themselves are a bit lacking. The cards are of good quality, stiff enough to manipulate, slick enough to shuffle. The face cards are cute with bears, cats, and other cute characters. The Aces have other designs based on the suit. They have some nice color combinations, but they are just okay for us. They work well, play well, but the packaging caused me to expect more. If you have an animal lover or a card collector these might be perfect. They are great for regular card play. I just did not find them as appealing as the packaging. The company makes a vintage set that really looks cool. I might try those next time. ... show more
