Right out of the package and side-by-side comparison ( see our photo) shows how much light was still getting through our current linen curtains! During mid-afternoon, (photo) after putting up both panels, room became completely DARK! Also, great for keeping in the heat during the winter and AC cool air in the summer. Not sure exactly how much sound (DBs) is being blocked out, but there has to be a considerable amount since our neighbor was power washing their house at the time, the noise level DID lower a bit after install. Yes, heavier than expected but well worth the trade-off. LOVE the 3 HANGING options! ( Back tabs, rod pockets and ring clips). Shipped and arrived quickly, these 2 panels did not disappoint. Exceeded our expectations! Great STITCHING, wrinkle-free and its sheerness all add up to a QUALITY product at a reasonable price! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ... show more

These do a great job at blocking light. My only concern would be it's hard to get them to overlap much, at least with Back Tab hanging. The tabs are roughly 1 inch from the end of the drape, meaning you get about 1 inch of overlap in the middle. It works, but that is the most noticeable place for light leaking through. ... show more

These are a very thick set of sun blocking curtains. If you want shade and dark, these will be your best friend. The sun comes in so strong from some of my windows my plants couldn’t even handle it. I will probably get a double curtain rod but these have helped me and my power bill.
