These are exactly as described. 100% blackout and block out the grueling east sun from our bedroom. You'll want to install the rod 3 inches above the window so that light does not come through the grommet holes. In the middle of the day when we stand at the bedroom door, it's so dark, we can't see the bed. They also make a huge difference in the temperature of our bedroom. I ordered the dark teal and when I opened the box, I was at first disappointed that the curtains were so much lighter than online. But they weren't! Once I removed them from the clear plastic wrapping, the color was correct - a dark teal. You won't get an accurate color until you remove them from the clear plastic pocket. The texture is silky, but not shiny, and the curtain is well made. Haven't washed them but hung them yesterday - hoping the fold wrinkles will fall out and I won't have to iron them. Be aware that these are black on the window side and will show black from outside your window unless you happen to have an additional roller shade. My only complaint is no choice of grommet color -- they are silver chrome color.

(PROOF: My photo shows the black blackout curtains -in between longer curtains - with the blinds of my window *wide open* during the daytime. I added fabric to block the large grommet holes. Later, I will move the rod higher up so that the light spilling up the top will not be an issue.) Thank goodness these actually work. I'm not exaggerating when I say that as soon as I put the panel up, my bedroom cooled down from being hot & sticky to being very comfortable. I didn't measure the temp because all I have is a phone app but could tell a big difference in temp between the bedroom (with the panel) and the living room (without). I have a TINY apartment (under 700sf) and because of the floorplan, the AC in the living room does nothing for the bedroom as the air doesn't circulate well. It's already getting hot and humid where I live. What I notice is that the curtains cool by not just blocking the sunlight. My old "blackout" (yeah right) curtains did okay blocking out light but they didn't help at all with cooling down the room. The one thing I wish is that I had gotten the longer panel as I did with my old curtains (which block some light but do NOT work for cooling). Until I get another set of these, I had to get creative and make the old ones work along with this single panel for now. One thing I noticed is that these do block light well except for those large grommet holes. They let in more light unless I move the rod higher up the wall (I think that would work). I just used some extra sheers I had to make a workaround for now. At least I do have something to block the light (and heat) this summer. My "office" is in the bedroom so that is where I spend most of the time but I do need to cut my AC usage. I have ordered longer ones for my living room. The wrinkles are only in spots from folding/packaging but I'm going to need to use some wrinkle release because they are not "falling out" fast enough.

The bleached white curtains are a light grey color. I know that they do have the black lining, We have these in another room in the house and they are great blackout and thermal blocking curtains!! Just the white is not white so unfortunately returning for that reason.

Not sure why the rating questions included one about sheerness. I gave it 5 stars because I wanted the overall rating to be a 5. These are very silky and the navy color is beautiful. Especially nice for a bedroom. I have other blackout curtains and they are thicker and heavier. These navy curtains are for a bedroom with a sliding door. I prefer 4 panels rather than one long one. That way I can open them in the middle as you would for a larger window.
