I have a 6.25-year-old aspiring gymnast who loves to tumble, but is also a bit timid with trying new things that put her feet above her head. Big jumps on the trampoline? No problem. Cartwheels? Took some convincing. Back arch into a walk-over and eventually a back handspring? No way... Or so I thought... Picked up this "Air Roller" because the kids have been loving the trampoline we set up, and we have some gymnastic mats set up in the basement for the cold months. I figured if nothing else this would be something they'd play with that would keep them physically active. Well, let me say right off that this is not really a "toy." When fully inflated, this thing is very, very hard. Granted, it's softer to land on than something truly solid, but this is nothing like a yoga ball or foam-filled roller. And it's big... bigger than you'd think. 23.6 inches just doesn't seem like it's that big of a diameter, but it really is, especially for a 6-year-old. Heck, it was a challenge for my nearly-10-year-old to arch over it at first. But they both took it out to the trampoline day after day, and I listened as they laughed and encouraged each other until finally they were both arching over it and kicking their legs over in a very slow but very awesome beginning of a back walkover. They haven't quite mastered pushing up off the ground with their hands yet, but it's definitely progress and they're having a blast! Now as far as durability goes, for being an inflatable item this thing is built solid. The air valve seals tight but the the kit comes with extra valves as well as a replacement seal/gasket/whatever in case this thing blows out. Given the light-intensity of the use my kids are putting it through, I don't see that happening anytime soon, but I appreciate that they provide the parts. They also provide the electric pump for filling it. And this is possibly my only gripe with the product. The pump itself is great and very powerful for being as small as it is. It fills the air roller easily. The issue I have is that it uses a proprietary connection to lock into both the pump and the air roller. So if the pump breaks, we're out of luck. And if the connection gets lost, we're out of luck. I just hate having to have single-purpose things like this that take up storage space in addition to all the other inflation devices I already have. Anyhow, it's a small gripe but it's worth mentioning. Price-wise, I initially thought this was a touch pricey as it was $59.99 when I ordered it. However, given the high-quality of this thing I actually think it's easily worth that price. Yet even as I write this, I see it's now being offered with a $10-off coupon, so if you can get it for less than the $59.99 price then that's even better and I say go for it if you have little ones who will similarly benefit from it!

I purchased this air roller for my 7-year-old daughter to practice her tumbling and gymnastics skills safely at home. However, as a photographer, I also saw potential for it as a creative prop. My intent was to provide a safe, bouncy surface for her to practice and to use the roller's smooth, colorful surface as a foreground element or backdrop when shooting dynamic movement portraits. What I Like About the Product (Pros) From a parent's perspective, the roller provides a fantastic, soft landing and a stable surface for her to learn new movements like back handsprings. From a photographer's standpoint, I love the stability when inflated. It acts as a surprisingly versatile prop. When placed on its side, the smooth, dark blue surface provides a clean, abstract foreground element that helps draw the viewer's eye toward the subject in a movement shot. The material is very durable and holds air well, even after a lot of energetic use. Drawbacks to the Product (Cons) The biggest drawback is the noise and speed of the included electric pump. It is extremely loud, making a frantic whine that is jarring, especially when trying to inflate the roller inside the house. The process of getting it fully rigid takes a few minutes, which feels longer due to the noise. Also, while it is inflatable, it is still a fairly large item to store, even when deflated, requiring a designated spot in the closet. Setup: Setup is entirely dependent on the pump. You need access to an electrical outlet. Once the pump is plugged in, the valve is easy to attach, but you must be patient and prepared for the loud whirring sound. Deflation is simple; you just reverse the pump's function or open the valve and manually squeeze the air out. Build/Quality: The material is a very thick, heavy-duty PVC or similar vinyl, which feels rugged and durable. The seams are well-sealed, and the inflation valve is robust. Color: We chose the dark blue, which is a rich, non-reflective color that photographs beautifully. It works well both indoors and outdoors. Durability: The material is surprisingly puncture-resistant. It has withstood bouncing, being rolled over rough grass outside, and being handled by a spirited child without any issues or air leaks. Size: The size is perfect for a child or small adult learning to tumble. It is large enough to provide a stable rolling surface but not so big that it dominates a small room. Care: The vinyl material is extremely easy to clean. A damp cloth and a mild soap are all you need to wipe off any dirt or dust acquired from outdoor use. Since it is airtight, there is no worry about mold or mildew on the inside, as long as it is dried before storage. Ease of use: Once inflated, it is simple for a child to use for practicing rolls and balancing exercises. The process of inflating and deflating is the only part that requires attention, mainly due to the loud pump, but the functionality of the pump itself is straightforward. Price for value: Considering you get a durable, high-quality, large roller, plus an electric pump, the purchase price offers excellent value. It is much more versatile and safer than traditional solid foam rollers, offering a dynamic tool for both athletic training and creative photography staging. Summary and Recommendation This inflatable air roller is an excellent piece of training equipment for young gymnasts, offering a safe and durable surface for practice. The construction quality is high, and the material is surprisingly rugged. While the pump is annoyingly loud, the core product delivers on its promises. As both a parent and a photographer who appreciates its use as a unique, stable prop, I would definitely recommend this set for training and for adding an interesting element to creative movement photography.

Extremely durable tumbler barrel. My one daughter has put this thing through the wringer and it’s bulletproof. Very easy to setup and the pump and valve are the same as a tumble track or paddle board. Size is true to measurements listed. Very thick material and seems to be as high quality as the ones at our gymnastics gym. Highly recommended.

OK so first off let me start by saying I don't do gymnastics. I also have no children. SO why buy this you ask? Well I have issues with my spine and we have all seen those large balls that you are supposed to roll your back over to stretch your spine out. Well I don't know about anyone else but for me I never had good enough balance or actually relax while laying across one of those balls. Well I saw this and figured it couldn't hurt. And it didn't! It is a lot larger than I expected but its really top quality. The material is really durable but it comes with patches in case you get a tear. Its really thick and the weight is sturdy enough that you don't feel like its going to fly away from you the minute you put any weight on it. Its really easy to use and overall much more comfortable than anything else I have tried to stretch my back.
