This is a nice little winder. I have several different styles and this one is one that I prefer because of the separate bridge pin puller. I can see the puller as I place it under the pin for good engagement. Overall, this is built like many other units of similar design. It works and is durable enough to do the job.     • Doesn't work on an electric bass, but okay for acoustic or electric guitars
Importantly, the knobs on the tuning machines of an electric bass do NOT fit in the cup on this string winder. So, if you’re looking for a winder to use with a bass, look elsewhere. There’s a similar product made by D'Addario which specifically states it works on basses. That product is available for not much more $$ than this one right here on Amazon. On the other hand, if you’re only going to use this item with an acoustic or electric guitar, this will do the job and save you about $6.00 as of 2/23/2025. I tried the cutter and it had no trouble slicing through an acoustic guitar’s A-string. Why that string you ask ... it was the thickest string I had available that I could afford to cut. That said, I’m confident it would work equally well on the low E-string. In summary, if you only plan to use this winder with an electric or acoustic guitar, it will do the job and save you a few bucks. But, if there’s any possibility you’ll want to restring an electric bass, don’t bother with this item. In fact, since I also play bass, I just ordered the D’Addario winder here on Amazon and I’ll keep this item in gig bag with my electric guitar. I have played guitar for over 20 years and this little tool is a must have for any new guitarist. Easy to use and makes your life so much easier for stringing a guitar. I like the cable cutter and the winder tool is easy to use.

Absolutely worthless tool. Poorly designed and it just gets in it's own way. Spend more money and buy a better quality design or just do it by hand. I would suggest that you not waste your time and money with this thing.
