  • The best Guardians
Okay, folks, grab your emotional support raccoons and prepare for a cosmic hug that'll leave you sniffling into your space-popcorn. Guardians of the Galaxy 3? More like Guardians of the Feels-y Galaxy, am I right? I went in expecting a fun space romp, and I came out needing a group therapy session with a talking tree. First off, let's address the elephant in the room, or rather, the talking raccoon with a tragic backstory. Rocket's arc? I'm not crying, you're crying! Okay, maybe I'm crying a little. Or a lot. It's like they took all the adorable, sarcastic energy of Rocket and then punched you in the gut with his backstory. But in a good way! Like a warm, fuzzy, gut-punch of emotional growth. And the rest of the Guardians? They're basically a dysfunctional family who communicates through sarcasm, questionable dance moves, and the occasional heroic sacrifice. It's like watching a group of your weirdest, most lovable friends navigate the universe while trying to figure out if they should hug it out or blast something with a laser cannon. Groot? He's gone from "I am Groot" to "I am Groot, you beautiful, magnificent space-flower!" And honestly, I'm here for it. He's like that kid who suddenly hits a growth spurt and starts speaking in eloquent metaphors. It's both adorable and slightly terrifying. And the music? Don't even get me started. It's like a mixtape curated by a cosmic DJ who knows exactly how to make you dance, cry, and then dance while crying. It's a symphony of nostalgia, heartbreak, and pure, unadulterated joy. Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is a rollercoaster of emotions, a cosmic ballet of laughter and tears. It's a reminder that even the most dysfunctional families can find love, redemption, and the perfect dance move. And if that doesn't warm your heart, I don't know what will. Five stars, and a box of tissues. You'll need them. ... show more

  • Happy to own this movie
The product and the digital code was legit! No damage to the dvd case except some to the cover sleeve, but it’s nothing crazy. Glad to own this physical copy.

  • A fitting and distinct wrap-up for the original Guardians.
Ever since the original Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), it felt like this corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) was left to do its own thing. These movies didn’t have many cameos or connections to the larger MCU except for introducing characters who fought in the Avengers films. Perhaps because of this level of separation from the core MCU, the Guardians of the Galaxy movies have felt more stable tonally than the rest of the MCU films. You can probably thank James Gunn for that. While I consider the first Guardians movie to be one of the best superhero (or even sci-fi) films ever made, Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 (2017) diving into Peter Quill’s (Chris Pratt) origins wasn’t quite up to snuff. And while Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 (2023) is another origin story, it felt more impactful than its predecessor. After all, the one character of the group we didn’t have any in-depth background on was Rocket (Bradley Cooper). This film remedies that in a way that’s both emotional and a fitting cap on the adventures of the original Guardians group. In the post-Endgame MCU, movies like this feel rare. Sure, there’s room for more adventures for this new group of Guardians, but wrapping up character arcs is a much more impressive feat. Letting things come to a natural end without forcing any hints of the next tie-in or cameo was refreshing. The villain also felt unique but threatening. It was also nice to get a more realistic resolution to the relationship between Peter and Gamora (Zoe Saldana)—kind of like at the end of Broadcast News (1987). Overall, the Guardians films are great by themselves, which Volume 3 epitomizes. A fitting and distinct wrap-up for the original Guardians, I give Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 4.0 stars out of 5. ... show more
