  • Wow Very Nice
I received today, Unboxed and wow very nice. Inspected and found no flaws or damage at all. Tuned up easy and then the sound check. plug it in to amp and let it rip. Sounds good and all functions work properly. While I am not a good player, this guitar is awesome! Best value for the money hands down. Thank you Grote Guitars and Basses. 100% satisfied.....here are a few pictures ... show more

  • Fantastic Deal for the Money
Great Guitar and plays well with little to no setup adjustments. Of course it's no Les Paul but if you don't want to spend a fortune this guitar plays well and is great looking for the price. My main Guitar is an American made PRS and I needed a spare guitar for stage backup so this works out fine.

  • Solid guitar for the money
Pros: great neck, body finish, fret board, balance, initial action, fit and finish, and overall appearance. Cons: cheap but adequate pots and tuner pegs, crappy strings, average pickups. I leveled and polished the frets and fine tuned the action height. I also tightened up the tuners and the tail stop. I am upgrading the pickups and all wiring to Probucker coil splitter and already put on premium 11/52 strings. I expect the finished axe to be a very sweet player from what I am seeing so far. I recommend a basic initial setup if you buy this guitar and you will have a very nice guitar overall… ... show more

  • Love the guitar.
I purchase this guitar after look at reviews and saw that everyone had said it is a really good guitar and a high quality guitar with having a mohogany body. I'm now in the process of doing upgrades because I don't plan on ever getting rid of it. The upgrades are going to be EMG Zack Wyld pickups, A new tremolo with a wammy bar designed for LP guitars along with locking tuners. I will post pictures of the before and after upgrades. ... show more

  • ***UPDATE***
First of all, it's truly a decent guitar for the price. The photo top and book match is really well done! It's a great looking guitar. That said, here are the issues with mine: *** High E nut slot cut too deep *** Tuners are very sticky and have tuning gaps *** The frets have some oxidation and will need polish...it was obviously stored in a damp place *** The fretboard is pretty rough, but nothing a good amount of elbow grease can't resolve. The good: *** The guitar has a good bit of weight, and doesn't feel cheap...the body is made of good wood *** The pickups are dark and warm (not harsh at all) *** The bridge is stable and made well...the saddles are easily adjustable *** The neck is super straight *** The pots and knobs are really smooth, with no scratchiness at all I'm not saying all of the guitars will have the above mentioned issues, but be aware they might. Overall, I'm certainly keeping it and putting a bit of work in. It plays well enough to make it a keeper! NOTE: The advertisement says this comes with a gig bag and several other accessories...it ONLY comes with a gig bag; no picks, power cord, "spanner" or anything else. ***UPDATE*** After replacing the tuners, bridge and pickups, this guitar plays and sounds great!! I threw some graphite in the high E nut slot, and presto!!! I'm super impressed with the value of this guitar. My upgrades were $100...did the work myself (not hard at all). Great buy! ... show more

  • Well made and good looking
It’s a great value. Great for a beginner or weekend garage band’r. I won’t get too technical but it is a comfort to play. It just feels good, feels right. It’s very nice looking as well. Gig bag is a real gig bag.

  • Surprisingly good for the money
Normally I play a PRS (real one) 10 top Santana, but bought a Hard Luck Kings Bossman at the suggestion of my buddy from Fuel and loved it. No one recommended the Grote LPYS-006 (VS) but I figured "what have I got to lose?"... Was a tad worried seeing some reviews of people with minor issues, but having done a ton of guitar work i figured I would be ok either way. Opened the case, first impression? BEAUTIFUL! But looks can be deceiving. Tuned it up, sounded ok without an amp, but what would the pickups sound like? sounded great! Had to raise the neck pickup a bit to even out volumes, but no buzzes or weird intonation issues. Only complaint was strings heavier than I'm used to but they still played amazing well. My suggestion? don't be afraid to buy one, mine definitely didn't disappoint ... show more

  • Not bad at all
Plays nice action good lowered it a little, pick ups very microsonic , but have a good character about them they do feed back easy , reminds me of a hollow body the way they feedback and sustain. Overall it was a gift and I think it is a good guitar for sure,I did have to do some work on intonation but was able to get it right ... show more
