  • Repeated sprayhead problems but prompt customer service
Color: Super Steel Style: 21-1/4 in. Faucet height
We bought one of these two years ago. I've never noticed a water pressure issue, but I don't think having water blast out of this thing would make me happy because it would splash all over the place. Maybe I have a shallower sink basin than other people? Also, the reach of the neck isn't very impressive. Mine is in the center of a single-basin farmhouse sink and it doesn't come close to reaching the sides. But that's pretty obvious looking at it. What has happened, twice, is that the control or seal that regulates whether it's a stream or a shower has gone bad, which means the faucet won't stay in spray mode, or reverts halfway back to stream mode, and makes a grinding-type noise. Last year I let it go so long that it happened every time I turned the water on. This year I caught it earlier. The only fix I know of is to submit a warranty claim and have a replacement sent. In the plus column, I haven't had a single issue getting a quick replacement from Grohe customer service. In the minus column, I guess I'll be doing this every year because this faucet was a very expensive installation and I don't feel like paying to install another one, even if I could get the faucet for free. ... show more

  • Be sure to get the DCO.
Color: Super Steel Style: 26-9/16 in. Faucet height
This is a new design in kitchen faucets. It is meant to look like a professional faucet but not to be too overwhelming. Note that Grohe has just come out with a version of this that is 5" shorter. These come in two finishes, chrome and "SuperSteal" which is like stainless or brushed nickel. "SuperSteal" is a color name and does not indicate anything about what the faucet is made of. Be sure to get the "DCO" version and not the "DCE". The "DCE" has restricted wafer flow, which I think is a stupid idea. The handle on the DCO is very precise and it is easy to adjust the wafer flow if you want to save water. Out of all the faucets of this design, we like the Grohe design the best. Hans Grohe (a different company from Grohe) and Elkay also have a nice one. After that, they begin to look cheap. Like most kitchen faucets (even fairly high end ones) the head is made of plastic. However, the stainless steel finish makes it look and feel like the heard is real metal. Only time will tell how durable the finish is and how long it takes before you wear it down and the plastic starts showing. What I don't like is that the spring and hose are chrome. I was hoping to get something that looked like stainless steel or brushed nickel throughout. In the pictures of the faucet, they make it look like the spring and hose are not chrome, but they are. Since they are chrome, and mirror like, they do pick up the stainless steel look if you look at them at the right angle. But, it most light and most angles, they look chrome. The button on the head will change the flow from a regular stream to a shower. The shower pattern is fairly tight and does not spread out like our older faucets did. You can switch from stream to shower with the water running (some other brands will only switch back to stream when you turn the water off). Once the water is turned, it always goes back to stream. I like the Elkay faucet in that the switch on the head was three way, stream, shower or off. The only one nicer than this is from Waterstone. They are pretty wild looking and cost twice as much. However, the head on those are solid metal. ... show more

  • Great faucet, absolute garbage faucet head.... Can remedy with an extra 100 bones
Color: Chrome Style: 26-9/16 in. Faucet height
Bought this a couple years ago and loved it at first, regret this purchase now, though. For the price, you would expect flawless performance longer than a couple years. Now, the faucet doesn't stay on either stream or shower, and constantly makes a rumble noise. Stay away from this product, not a quality product. Update: 3 stars. The faucet really is great, but the faucet head issue has been terrible. HOWEVER, for an extra 100$ I was able to use another Grohe faucet head (product # 46857000) with a tiny bit of rigging (a rubber band) and it's much much more reliable now. ... show more

  • It would be perfect, if it weren't for the flow restrictor [and the spray head actually sprayed]
Color: Chrome Style: 21-1/4 in. Faucet height
It has a hefty, well-built feel to it. The ~9" reach feels a bit short, but the spray can hit every corner of the sink just fine. Going to the full-size faucet would likely solve the reach but the size would take over our kitchen window. The finish on the chrome looks good, nozzle and flow work well*, and the handle offers great adjustment. It took me 1.5 hours to uninstall the old faucet but less than 30 min to install, test, and clean up the new Grohe K7. The method of installation is well thought out and easy to access even behind a deep sink. It comes with 3/8" hoses that attach with a 16mm (5/8") wrench. The collar locks below the sink with a single "bolt", measuring at maybe 14mm. You will need a helper to balance the faucet while the collar is locked below the sink; a socket, extension, and ratchet preferably to secure the faucet; then a wrench to attach the supply lines to the shutoff. * Our faucet worked wonderfully for two days, installed as it came out of the box. On the third day, flow was half of where it should have been. After fiddling with the handle on and off a few times, flow slowly decreased to a mere trickle. Slowly pulling the handle out would increase water flow slightly, followed by a slight thunk and a decrease in water flow. Without the head installed, water still trickled from the hose. I located the water restrictor/check valve (part number 7 in the K7 parts diagram) and removed it. Success! Water flow is now stronger than it was even when first installed. Blowing out the valve produced some debris, but re-installing the valve brought water flow to a halt. With the valve out again, a swift bang on the white end of the restrictor separated the diaphragm. I was able to pick out a large amount of rubber debris from the blue/grey end of the restrictor. Snapped back together and reinstalled, flow is now back to the original flow. [UPDATE AFTER FOUR YEARS OF OWNERSHIP] I've dropped my rating down dramatically. The flow restrictors are a problem, as mentioned above. For the latter two years we've used ours without the flow restrictors because they get clogged rather quickly. Now it flows too much, but can be regulated with the main handle. The bigger problem is the continued failure of the spray heads. The flow/spray switch wears out prematurely after a year and a half of use. As it wears, it is unable to keep the head in spray mode fully without holding the button. Once worn, it oscillates between flow and spray while emitting an awful honking sound. One can hold the button to get spray, but it honks when the button is pressed, then again when it is released. We are on our second failed spray head- that's right, two spray heads with the exact same failure mode! ... show more
