    • Great Gretsch Sound is BACK!
I bought this 4 pc shell kit and added the snare later. [Always shopping for the best deal] When I got the whole kit put together I switched out the heads that came on the kit for some Evans UV! etched heads and what a sound! I have an old Rogers kit that I wail on for classic Rock, but this kit is my go to for big band, off-Broadway, lounge, and smaller venue gigs. The drums are great-sounding, simple to tune, and sturdy. They stay in tune and are just plain fun to jam on. The bass drum is a little heavier than I'd hoped, bur a nice roller cart took care of that issue. Even with the weight issue, I'd give this kit a 6-star rating if I could. I've had my kit for two years now and have played in many assorted venues including everything from 2,000-seat concert halls to mid-sized living rooms under the baton of symphony conductors to just my jazz combo buddies. I like it more each time I play. Pros: Cost Sound Durability Cost Fast Tuning Classic Gretsch sound Cost Versatility Vintage, classy color options oh, did I mention cost? Cons: Bass drum is a tad on the heavy side Do yourself a favor. If you're looking for a smaller setup for those more intimate settings (weddings, lounge, etc) bur you also need to play some good old big band stuff at times and even a night doing off-Broadway type stuff once in a while, this kit will do the trick. ...did I mention the cost? ... show more
