We are campers. Tent camping is the way we go. We had previously purchased a bed frame that folds up and a fold up mattress. They were a definite game changer for us camping but due to extracurricular activities we popped one of the mattress support welds on the frame. Found this and I can tell you from experience that it will support the mattress during extracurricular activities without the frame being damaged

Nevertheless, this is a bed support board rather than a mattress replacement, and buyers should make sure the size and bed frame setup match their needs. This bunkie board was ordered for the full size bed in our guest room because the old box spring had reached the creaking-orchestra stage of life. Before this upgrade, the bed felt saggy, too soft, noisy, and almost like lying down into quicksand. After replacing the old box spring with these boards, the bed feels much firmer and more comfortable. The creaking is gone, the surface feels more stable, and the guest room bed now feels like it has real support again. 🙋 What Is This? Noise Level One feature I noticed is how quiet it is. It helps minimize squeaks and unwanted movement, allowing the bed to remain quiet when getting in, out, or changing positions during the night. These bunkie boards do actually make a difference when used with a mattress without a box spring. I have a bed-in-a-box mattress that sites on a metal frame. Its really good but when I check the mattress underneath I can feel the springs push down through the bed frame a bit when weight is on the mattress. This causes excessive droop in the matress and can cause it to need to be replaced sooner. These bunkie boards do solve that problem. However, the materials that are used are very cheap and lightweight. The "board" itself is a corrugated plastic board which is perfectly sturdy enough to support the mattress on a frame but I feel it could be damaged easily in a move for instance. The material that is over the board feels cheap but is very grippy and the mattress does not slide on it at all. However, the bunkie board does slide around on the metal frame quite easily. I solved this by sticking the fluffy side of some Velcro strips on to the metal bed frame where the bunkie board sits and that keeps it in place pretty good. They are currently overpriced in my opinion.

I added this bunkie board under a mattress that didn't have much support, and it made a noticeable difference. The mattress feels more stable and doesn't sag between the bed slats anymore. Installation couldn't have been easier. I simply unfolded it, placed it under the mattress, and it was ready to use in just a couple of minutes. The non-slip cover helps keep everything in place, and I haven't noticed the mattress shifting around since installing it. It also doesn't make any noise when moving around in bed. The board feels sturdy while remaining low profile, so it doesn't noticeably change the height of the bed. Overall, this is an easy and effective way to add extra support to a mattress. It's well made, simple to install, and a worthwhile upgrade for beds that need a little more stability.

This is a review of the Bunkie Board (60”x76”Queen Size) | Lightweight Design, Low Profile Bed Support, Breathable, Noise Minimizing, Moisture Resistant, Split Fully Assembled | Bed Support Folding Box Spring that was priced at $84.85 at the time of this review. I picked this up to add support under a mattress, and it does exactly that. It helps distribute weight more evenly and reduces the “sag” feeling you can get with slats or uneven support. The construction is interesting. From the outside, it looks like a typical board, but inside it’s actually a plastic structural grid. At first glance it seems like it might be flimsy, but it’s surprisingly strong and resists bending well once laid flat under load. It’s lightweight and easy to handle, and the folding design makes it simple to position or store. It also sits low profile, so it doesn’t significantly change bed height. What I ended up using it for most was actually car camping. In my SUV (2003 Lincoln Navigator with 3rd row seating), there’s a gap between folded seats, and this board has enough rigidity to bridge that space without collapsing, which makes a much more usable sleeping platform. Overall, this is a versatile support board. Works as intended under a mattress, but also useful for creative setups like vehicle camping where you need a lightweight but sturdy surface.
