*********UPDATE********** 2017 -2021 **************************************** We've had our Green Air Encore since 2017. It has proven to be one of the best investments we have made in Amazon purchases, ever. It is STILL quiet, efficient and EFFECTIVE. This is a solid 5 star product if I ever saw one. If you are on the ropes about it, dont be. I have years of ownership experience with this air purifier. Both me and my son have seasonal allergies and we have two dogs. The difference between being outside in the air in spring and summer, and the difference with all of the fires in the summer here in the pacific northwest and being inside with this monster are night and day. Buy it. ************************************************************************************************************** 1.)Just received this last night. It was packaged well and well protected. No damage. 2.)First thing I did was read the instructions in the users manual. I think a lot of people aren't doing this. You can just plug it in and put it on auto but you are missing some really key features if you do this. I think one feature that took me a bit to understand was the sensitivity feature which, if you just read the manual, is confusing because you are led to believe that adjusting the fan speed also adjusts the sensitivity...it doesn't. You have to unplug the device, wait a few seconds (manual says 2 minutes but its not necessary) then hold down the air quality button as you plug it back in....now when you use the fan speed button, it actually adjusts the sensitivity! Then when you have it where you want, just hit the power button and put it on auto. Works great. 3.) This thing is quiet as a mouse when running on auto and the air is clean. This unit as well as any other will make some noise when the fan kicks into high gear as it is responding to particles in the air but even that is very reasonable...then later it will go back to eco mode and you almost don't know it is running, until you put your hand above and behind it and feel the air coming out! Case in point...our unit is right next to our entertainment center where our tv is located and it cause no issues at all. 4.) Love the design, it just fits our home well. We have wood floors and earth tones through out and this just blends well. 5.) Ease of access to filters. The panel is held on magnetically so not clips or parts to break or wear out when removing and changing filters. This is good thing. 6.) Price. This thing is the same quality and functionality of 500 dollar units. I know, I've seen a few others at store on display and at a friends house who owns a 450 dollar model made by another company. ****UPDATE****************************************UPDATE**************************** So we use a lot of scented candles in our home...well you better turn this unit off if you want to experience your scented candles cause this unit will literally kill the odor so it doesn't permeate through out the house. Yeah, this unit definitely is doing its job and then some. **********************UPDATE #2******************************* It has been since 2017 since we bought it. Still kick butt and taking names.     • Worth the price.
I live in an older apartment building. Every day when I come home from work, it smells like cigarettes or marijuana from the neighbors. Add that on top of the normal musty, moldy smell of old buildings, and it just gets to be a lot even if you have no allergies. My apartment is beautiful on the inside and I’m in the middle of a lease, so I don’t really want to move, so I decided to start looking for a HEPA filter to try to Alleviate some of the issues. After doing days of research, I finally settled on the Green Air™ Encore. I was a little shy of the price because I'm entirely new to the HEPA filter market. However; I wanted to buy something that appeared to be a quality product. I wanted something that could work individually for my entire apartment that is 630 square feet, and the 1000 square feet this model can handle squarely fit the bill. I've had it a little over 24 hours now, so I'll give you my very initial impression. The Green Air Encore™ came very well packaged. Its factory packaging was covered in a discrete box with no other markings so that no one would want to take it off of my front porch. Inside on top and bottom, it had regular hard rigid styrofoam which was a little disappointing for something at this price point. It did, however, come un-damage, so that's good. The initial setup was very easy. The outer door is magnetic and comes off with a decent enough amount of force that I'm confident it won't fall off on its own. However; I don't feel like I'm going to break it every time I take it off. Under the cover, you'll find the units 3 filters. The first of which comes off, is washable and has no need of replacement. The intermediate filter is activated charcoal and is wrapped in a plastic bag that must be removed before starting the unit. Inside is the HEPA filter. The HEPA filter looks adequate enough to deal with it's rated for however I could not find a MERV rating anywhere on the packaging the unit or the user's manual. I initially used the unit in its Auto setting, and it had run for about 20 minutes before it dropped to its lowest setting and the air Purity light showed blue stating that I had very clean air. The user's manual shows how you can easily change the sensitivity of the air. So I decided to do that. After setting the unit on its highest sensitivity, it ran for an additional half hour before again dropping to its lowest setting. The air in my house very well may have been cleaner since the unit is rated for 1000 square feet and my apartment is only 630 however there was no olfactory difference. I decided to put the unit in manual mode and set it to the second of its four settings and let it run overnight. Before leaving for work in the morning, I set it on its third of four settings and put it in the middle of my largest room and let it run for twelve hours while I was at work. This is when I finally notice how much of a big difference the Green Air™ Encore makes. For the first time since living in my current apartment when I open my door, my house smells clean. There's no cigarette smoke there's no hint of marijuana or mold and mildew. In just 24 hours I feel like the unit has already proved how great it's going to be. If the system can actively help me enjoy my home, I can only imagine how much is benefiting my health. At this point, I am very satisfied with this product and would recommend that anyone looking for a high-quality HEPA filter unit give the Green Air™ Encore serious consideration. ***Update*** Two and a half months later and I cannot imagine my house without this thing. Inside for most the winter and I have had no allergy problems at all. The first filter cleaning was a breeze once I hound the hidden button on the left hand side.     • You can set it and forget it
First off, this is a very quiet unit. It can operate on its own without much interaction, except when it needs cleaning or it's filters changed. I've owned for about 2 months now, and have just cleaned it once, at about the 30 day mark. That was just to clean the washable pre filter. I have it set on it's most sensitive level. There is a learning curve to understand it's computer program, but after going through the manual a couple of times, you should be ready to set it up to your liking. I have it in auto mode, and I haven't touched it for about a month. It reacts to light, so at night, it either shuts down or goes into it's lowest fan mode. It reacts to cooking odors by increasing fan speed, although it doesn't seem to eliminate them, and also when we vacuum the carpet and hardwood floors. Ours is in an open space of about 500 sq. feet with the remaining 1,000 sq. feet down the hallway. It's rated at 1,000 sq. feet but how can you tell? We bought it as we live in Southern Oregon, where we have a fire season, and smoke is a health hazard. Overall we are satisfied with it, and would purchase it again.     • So, so nice
This unit is so sleek, and attractive. It is absolutely beautiful. That being said, I've only had this purifier for two days but I have found it to be exceptionally quiet, and very efficient. I only hope this lasts a very long time because I really, really like this purifier. The absolutely best thing that could happen is that this unit does everything it says it can do. We all need products like these that can clear the air of some viruses, bacterias, mold, smoke and many other air pollutants. Very easy to set up. ... show more
