Seriously, this shirt saved my quarantine. I feel like Elizabeth Swann in this shirt. Specifically, like Elizabeth borrowing Will's shirt, bc it does run big. I'm wholly obsessed with this shirt. This shirt is perfect! It's pretty much exactly what I was looking for, and the quality is pretty impressive too. Btw, it's supposed to fit loose!! Go by the size chart in the photos, and put a belt or sash around it to get the most authentic look. It's a very thin material, which I expected, but I live in Texas, so that's a good thing. It has a good drape to it, so it doesn't look cheap or like a Halloween costume. It is a bright white though, so I might tea-stain it. ... show more

This is a thin, blousy, pirate kind of shirt I bought for Scarborough Fair (Ren-fest kind of thing). It is sheer enough that it is considered see through, but very airy for warmer weather. I typically wear a large and this was definitely larger than I expected. I could have gone at least a size smaller (medium) but it was still good and actually, great for the price. The belt is narrow and wraps around once with over a foot of extra leather to tuck under and hang loose. There were plenty of extra holes for the buckle to engage so that was good, too. I did replace the white shoestring with leather moccasin laces to make it more authentic looking. I washed on permanent press cycle and air dried... no issues there. ... show more

Just about exactly what I expected. I'm a 44 inch bust, 38 inch waist, and while I usually wear a men's large, I went for the medium and I'm glad I did. It's still plenty oversized but I'm not absolutely drowning in it. A couple notes: The fabric is synthetic. That's okay with me - as much as I'd prefer actual cotton or linen, the quality is fairly good and I have no doubt the wrinkles visible in the picture will fade after it's washed. It's also quite thin, but I think just opaque enough to be able to get away with a black bra and no tank top covering it. The sleeves are pretty long, and the elastic at the wrists is not quite strong enough to keep the cuffs from sliding over my hands. It's a pretty easy fix, but I think it's worth noting. The manufacture of the shirt is about average for Amazon, with some loose threads here and there and a pretty light stitch all around, but the seams are mostly quite even and it doesn't feel like it'll fall apart on me. One nice touch - the ruffs at the wrists are shorter on one side than the other, meaning you still get a lovely dramatic ruffle without completely sacrificing the use of your hands. I ordered the version with a belt, mostly since it was in stock. The belt is a perfectly nice-looking pleather, and is perfectly adequate to go around the waist as an accent, but I'd never wear it to actually hold up pants. ... show more

Okay, so I was excited an XL was actually big. I probably could have purchased a large but I never know. It is still perfect for a pirate shirt. The arms might be a bit long, but I'd rather have it too big than be too small. The quality is excellent and the material feels wonderful and it washes up beautifully. I hang my stuff to dry, but was tempted to try the dryer to shrink it a bit, but I chickened out. If you're concerned about size, then yes, go down a size ... show more

I'm 5'8, 160 pounds. Ordered a small. The shirt is amazing for the price. Wish they had a beige option but the white ended up looking very nice! Nice and loose. Very thin material but that makes it easier to layer or be outside in the heat!

Ordered this shirt for my Renaissance festival outfit. Overall I really do like it, it’s a bit larger than expected and I even ordered a size smaller than my normal (L when I normally wear an XL), but I’m wearing it under a corset so that doesn’t matter much. The fabric isn’t “soft and silky” and it has a texture, so it’s perfect for what I wanted, since it seems more accurate. The number one thing I noticed right out of the bag is that the dye used is not washed off before being sent. My hands were black after just handling the shirt to try it on. I ended up hand washing it in the sink, first with laundry crystals and then with dawn dish soap, trying to get all the leftover dye out. After several (and I do mean several) the water was finally grey enough I tossed it in the washer with some other black clothes of mine. No idea if you’re supposed to machine wash it but I did. Then I hung it up to dry. It didn’t smell like chemicals but you seriously need to wash it by hand before doing anything with the shirt! Other than that it’s a great shirt, though the seams do need some work. I love how it looks on me. ... show more

Great shirt! An XL fits me a 4XL in women's shirts. A tad tight in the shoulder but livable. Very sheer nice and lightweight. I love that the linen isn't scratchy like polyester.
