I Tried a department store christmas special one time on a large drone, clipped my shin pretty good with it so I gave up for 2 years. This thing said adult friendly beginner use drone and was only $130. Read all the reviews watched all the videos and looked at all the pictures. Let me just say...I LOVE THIS THING.     • Great Transition from Toy to REAL Drone
For starters, this drone takes excellent pictures, which is rare in this range as that's typically one area where beginner drones cheap-out. Not this one. It will provide you with excellent images. Second, this is very stable. Not so much precise as some of the features (return to home [RTH}, etc.), work, but just not as precise as in drones approaching professional level. But to both of those points, this drone has a lot of features found in higher end drones, so it is a great price point (with discounts, currently between $120-$200 on any given day), it has low battery and gps return home, a 2 axis gimbal, image follow, follow me, etc., again, not as precise as higher end, but definitely features you won't find on the mall kiosk drones. The batteries life is dependent on a lot of factors, and they seem to have stated best case (20 mins flight time per battery), but I've found real world is a bit more than half that time in the beginning as you get past the learning curve, and that time gets better as your skills improve. Charge time is very close to the stated 3 hrs. It handles wind well, and it holds position very well, even in some decent wind, but as with any drones, if you're starting out, get past the learning curve on windless days and work your way up to windier conditions. The two biggest tips I can lend are: 1. Take your time setting up. Read everything and watch some videos. Time taken in learning all the controls, etc, will significantly improve your flight experience and decrease your learning curve, saving time and drone parts along the way. 2. If you're a beginner, find an open, grassy field to test your initial flights. I learned this the hard way with the first drone I got (not this one) where I took my first ever "test" of it over my driveway. Without much space for me to thing/react, I panicked a bit and hit what I thought was RTH but it was a kill switch and I watched my new drone shut off and take about a 10' drop onto the concrete which took a toll on a few pieces. If you have never used a drone and want an entry to higher end drones at a price point just above (if you catch on sale) some of the toy offerings on the market, I highly recommend this one. As your flying skills grow, the features and camera on this one will keep your interest while you determine if this is a hobby you find worth investing in. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This is my first GPS enabled drone. My boys have had drone-like flying toys that worked but were always hard to learn and master and you ended up crashing it into things while learning. This drone is not a child's toy and is rated for ages 14+. With this drone I was able to learn the basics on my first flight without getting into trouble. With features like push button take off/landing and GPS assisted return to home it lessened my anxiety and boosted my confidence. By my 3rd flight I was using the remote camera adjustment feature and snapping photographs and taking videos. I was pleasantly surprised when I used the return to home feature on my 2nd flight and the drone was smart enough to avoid a tree in its return path. It actually climbed to a safe height to avoid the tree, made its way back to the GPS start point, and then began a safe descent back to the ground. I should note that it may take some flying assistance to get the drone to land in the precise spot that it took off from. It will use GPS to get the drone back within the general vicinity of the takeoff spot which is still very helpful if the drone is out of visual sight and you're reliant on the phone app and your camera to maneuver the drone. The auto return to home when GPS signal is lost, or the battery is low is a comforting feature. There is also an aircraft retrieval function in the app that shows the last position of the drone. A few points of suggestion to consider. The instructions are not as clear as they could be, and the setup was a bit confusing. I first read through the manual to try to digest what was ahead and then dove in and attempted to follow the flight operations instructions. After a couple of swings, I was able to calibrate the drone and connect it to the ASP FLY app so that it was GPS enabled. I have not yet tried some of the other features such as image following/gesture taking, waypoint flying, and point of interest but I do plan to explore these features as I grow more comfortable with the basic operations. The default mode is beginner, which is where I'll leave it for a while, but you can adjust the operating parameters in the flight setting interface on the app. I do wish the drone had a longer flight time. The product description indicates "up to 40 minutes", but this would require two separate flights of ~20 minutes each using both included batteries. In summary, this GPS enabled drone is very stable and is relatively easy to fly once you've got it setup and connected to the ASP FLY app. It does take good pictures and videos and is a good value feature for feature vs. other drones at twice the price.
