Unfortunately, textured and tiled surfaces do not allow for the suction cups to properly adhere to the surface. Therefore, our mats are intended for use on smooth surfaces only. It's a bit hard to rate this item. It works GREAT to keep us from slipping in the shower; honestly, it is incredibly well made and feels great on the feet (meaning it is not rough, it is not so smooth as to be slippery, and it keeps your feet well planted). This mat also stays where you put it, no slipping or sliding of the mat, so you feel secure while standing on it. And, although we don't use in the tub (because we don't take baths), I'm certain it would work just as well in that area. All in all, it certainly deserves a 4 star rating but there is a potential drawback for others. Now for what I don't like and was not expecting. Water does flow thru it and down the drain, but suds do not. So if you were to just leave the mat in the stall all the time, I've no doubt you'd end up with a gunky soap scum effect on the shower floor which is exactly why folks have moved away from using shower/bath mats in the first place. BUT it is easy to solve this problem by doing what I had intended in the first place. Once I've finished showering, I simply lift the mat and rinse it off. That allows the soap suds to flow down the drain and leaves a "soap scum free" mat in its wake. Then I simply stick the mat to the side wall of the shower, loosely, so it can air dry. Done...and problem solved. Next shower, simply grab the mat and plop it on the shower floor, press down along the sides to create the suction needed to keep it in place, and shower away without slipping. I chose the mat over appliques because I've read an awful lot of bad reviews on those products. I entertained anti-slip tape as well but read many bad reviews there as well. This mat does have holes throughout and water runs thru it very well. We have no water backing up so it's simply a matter of the soap suds not running thru it. Not what I expected, but easily remedied. All in all, I'd buy it again and I do recommend it to others. But only if you are OK with rinsing it after each use (which is such a small task when the product allows you to feel secure in your shower/bath with no fear of slipping. ... show more

Description did not specify that this would not work on tiled surfaces until AFTER I ordered it (they have a warning but it's at the very end of the description). In hindsight I should've read the reviews but I figured it was Amazon's Choice so it must be decent. Got an email from the seller after I ordered basically saying - oh, by the way, that this won't work on tiles. I ordered a square mat for a shower stall and most shower stalls are tiled! My old $6 IKEA mat worked better than this. ... show more

Nice, classy-looking mat! I use this square shower mat to keep my 17-month-old toddler from slipping in our shower. It works quite well overall. No mildew/mold. After every use we easily pull it up and stick on the shower wall to dry - takes just a few seconds; it hasn't fallen off that wall even once after mounting. Competitive pricing. This is a great shower mat. It is VERY sturdy, stays in place, and is not slippery at all. I was worried that by placing it over the drain, I would have drainage issues, but not the case. The holes are big enough to let water through as if there isn't a mat in the way.

The product fails at what you buy it for....slip protection. If you don't use soap to shower you are good to go. But the minute the smooth plastic surface gets soap on it, it is as slippery as ice.

I have to concur with a few others who have stated this shower/bath mat simply does not adhere to even a smooth fiberglass floor. I precisely followed the instructions twice to ensure my first attempt to adhere was done properly. Neither worked. Another reviewer with an outcome similar to mine suggested so many positive reviews were fake. I’m afraid I tend to agree. Above all else, if this Gorilla mat is poorly designed and does not adhere, then it is inherently unsafe and subject to users falling. If true, this product should not be on the market. Edit: 4/1/2019. This piece of crap, unsafe item is stated by the seller as “no return or refund.” This infuriated me. I called Amazon, explained how unsafe this mat is and Amazon issued me a refund. ... show more

This is one of the better mats I have purchased in some time. They do grip well on a smooth surface. They won't work on textured surfaces I found out when I purchased one for my tub. Which I did return with no problem. This one has many hexagonal holes that allows the free flow of water into the drain. There was very little off gassing when I first opened the package. And the mat relaxed in a few days for a perfect fit in my small shower. It does not block the drain in anyway. It's a good fit all around. ... show more
