Its high performance stainability, paintability, and sandability provides you with a professional looking finished project!Features & Benefits: •Strong & Durable Repairs on Cracks, Gouges and Holes •Smooth Natural Finish: Easy to Spread •High Performance Stainability & Paintability •Shrink & Crack Resistant •Anchors Nails & Screws •Sandable - Works with High Speed Sanders •Interior/ Exterior •Water Resistant •Moldable •Tight-lock container for long shelf life and reusabilityPREPARATION: Clean and dry surface of dirt, dust and foreign material. Surface, filler & air temp should be above 40°. Mix gently before use. FILLING: Apply to area with putty knife. Remove excess. Large/deep holes may need an extra filling. SANDING: Allow to dry approx. 1 hour for shallow fills & 2-6 hours for deeper holes. Use medium sandpaper. FINISHING: Before filling, test stain on scrap wood with filler. May be painted with latex or oil based paints CLEAN-UP: Remove all excess residue with a damp cloth before the filler dries. Use soap and water to clean hands and tools before material dries. Reseal tightly with cap after each use.For outdoor use, coat with exterior paint. Not recommended for continuous water submersion.

I followed the directions on the product container and after letting the wood filler thoroughly dry, I sanded it with a medium grit sandpaper. I bought a popular brand of stain (solid) at a big (orange) box store and applied it today. This stuff is great. It easily filled knot holes and cracks in my pine deck boards. I had a little trouble smoothing fills toward the end of the job until I discovered the stuff had started to dry on my puddy knife. It took a knife to scrape if off the puddy knife. Used the filler on T-11 siding on a shed, which had some rotted areas. All good on shallow spots. On deeper spots I put in a layer, let it dry, then added more - so far it’s all holding. Plus, it takes paint well.

Easy to use. Use a putty knife to apply and let dry, then sand the excess off. Looks great and I will be buying more for my project. The only word of caution is: it does start to dry very quickly so apply small amounts to the area you're working on. If you don't, it might start to dry while spreading it.
