When I read reviews that mentioned how hard the container is to open the first time, I thought that was a trivial problem, not worth mentioning. It wasn't. Opening the container the first time is a chore, but it's well worth the effort. This is the best wood filler I have ever used. Very little, if any, shrinkage. Easy to spread, easy to sand, stands up well outside in high temperatures. Painting is is easy and provides great results. I haven't needed to stain it or drill it or nail into it, so I can't comment on those characteristics. Don't hesitate. Great product.

This works like wood filler should. Correct consistency, spreads easily, but not too easy. It’s not gummy and dries faster than minwax which stays gummy forever. Good job famowood!

Updated review: It did dry rock hard in the canister a few years later. I threw it out. Tried to add water to soften it but became a mess. I suggest getting a smaller size if you don’t have a big job. I gave up using regular wood fillers because they would always dry out in the canister; thus, becoming unusable. I used wood epoxy instead but decided to try this wood filler. Mended weak spots on my balcony railing with this filler. I waited a few hours and the area was quite hard enough to sand. I did light sanding and I liked how easy it was to sand smooth. I would buy it again. It’s pretty effective and I don’t have to work fast or put up with strong toxic odors involved with wood epoxy. If I was in a hurry though, I’d not use this filler. Notice drying-time is longer. I ended up scraping it off and resorting to wood epoxy in that case.

I'm using this to fill old nail holes and scratches in 2" x 6" x 12' redwood to reuse in a deck. This filler comes out of the container smooth and easy to spread with a putty knife. It dries in about 30 min so there is plenty of time to work with it. It is easily sanded and will accept almost as much stain as the sanded wood. The color of the filler is close to the typical 2" x 6" of pine or Douglas-fir. I don't know if it comes tinted. This specific filler was recommended by a furniture refinisher on YouTube because it was so quick and easy to apply in a nice, smooth, thin, even layer an inch wide, or in the narrowest of cracks or scratches. I found this to be true.

I have been a carpenter for over 40 years and have traditionally used Elmers wood filler but it has become hard to get and QC has really fallen off but I found this product “Famowood” filler in a local cabinet shop last year but only in a small size, but just recently found it on Amazon in a larger size and let me say that this product blows Elmers away, it’s much easier to lay on and sand and comes in different colors for different species of wood. This is an excellent product and my absolute go to for wood filler, I highly recommend this product.

GREAT STUFF! Works well and doesn't shrink up light other cheaper wood fillers. Easy to apply and I will definitely continue using in the future. Good value and size of tub as well.

Great for adding layers to wood and sanding and painting. Good quality don't get Dap this is best quality and it spreads easy with putty knife
