When I read reviews that mentioned how hard the container is to open the first time, I thought that was a trivial problem, not worth mentioning. It wasn't. Opening the container the first time is a chore, but it's well worth the effort. This is the best wood filler I have ever used. Very little, if any, shrinkage. Easy to spread, easy to sand, stands up well outside in high temperatures. Painting is is easy and provides great results. I haven't needed to stain it or drill it or nail into it, so I can't comment on those characteristics. Don't hesitate. Great product.

The absolute best wood filler!

I'm using this to fill old nail holes and scratches in 2" x 6" x 12' redwood to reuse in a deck. This filler comes out of the container smooth and easy to spread with a putty knife. It dries in about 30 min so there is plenty of time to work with it. It is easily sanded and will accept almost as much stain as the sanded wood. The color of the filler is close to the typical 2" x 6" of pine or Douglas-fir. I don't know if it comes tinted. This specific filler was recommended by a furniture refinisher on YouTube because it was so quick and easy to apply in a nice, smooth, thin, even layer an inch wide, or in the narrowest of cracks or scratches. I found this to be true.

I have been using Bondo for my exterior job for years. It is strong but hard to sand and drying quickly. This is my first time trying Famo wood filler and it is great. Easy to apply, give me time to smooth it and no need to mix.

I am restoring a very large wood carving. This product was recommended by a woodcarver. It is amazing. Hardens like wood. Dries quickly, but since some of the holes and cracks were so deep and large, I did several layered applications and let each cure fully before applying more. It has not separated from the word or cracked like some fillers do. It has adhered well to the original wood. Very easy to apply. I am a finger kind of person because I like to be able to feel certain areas and to shape to conform to the original. It hardens like wood, not like plastic or plaster. It sands easily. I am thrilled with it and would highly recommend it. In one of the comments, there was a complaint about how difficult it was to open the lid. I used a bottle opener, round end. Shoved it up the sides and used it like a lever as I went around the lid and lifted easily. So not difficult at all. Because I am still working with it, I have just firmly placed the lid back on, but not until it snaps, and put the container in a sealed plastic bag, so it is easy open as I go along, and has not dried out.
