I absolutely love using this for my hero 8. It works well underwater, through trails, and pretty much anywhere you want it to go. I’ve been in one bike accident and the case gave it the protection it needed when I hit the pavement. Could think of anything better. However… After using it for some time, there were a couple things that came up. 1). The case becomes very squeaky and noisy if the little rods inside the clips are unattended after use in water. Used a little bit of all purpose oil, and was just fine after that. 2). When I use the camera for its full amount of battery life, not only the camera gets hot, but the casing too. A little bit of plastic did melt, but mostly because I was recording for 2 hours. But you can always use the secondary screen protector to reduce overheating. 3). Clean it regularly after use!! It’s most important because if dirt or soot is left sitting on the case, it will start to rust metal parts and further damage the case. I has to replace my first one as I didn’t clean it regularly after use. Other than that, I’d highly recommend this product.     • Solid Protection For Hero 8 Lens
With the Hero 8 not offering a replaceable lens like its predecessors, I decided I better protect my investment with the GoPro housing. Fit is perfect and it is fairly easy to pop on and off for swapping batteries and MicroSD cards. I used the included skeletonized back which allows use of the touch screen and which I presume is a bit cooler (overheating is a reported issue with this camera though I have had no problem ). The housing does add noticeable bulk and weight, however. This is not an issue if you are mounting the camera on your kayak or bike, but you’ll notice it using a head or wrist strap mount. However, I think the housing is as slim as it can be and still offer solid protection. Recommended. ... show more

Although the Hero 8 is waterproof up to 33 feet, I bought this to add a certain level of comfort when it came to the water aspects. It's my first GoPro and didn't want to take chances. However, it also adds a level of protection when using on your bike or other vehicles. the Hero 8 doesn't have lens protection or rear screen protection so having this in case you have a mishap on your bike will definitely protect the GoPro from damage. When fully enclosed you only have access to power button and record button. So you need to have your desired shooting mode set OR you can use the open back that is included but you lose protection for the rear screen. The GoPro protective housing for the Hero8 Black is just like the SuperSuit housings for the other GoPros. Easy to use, functional, seals easily, is hard to flood, and performs well with the Hero8. The nice thing about this version is that you don't have to take the lens off the Hero to use it. For snorkeling, water sports, and especially scuba diving, this one is a must-have! You can't use the touch screen when the device is in the protective housing. The buttons are accessible but everything else must be done on a another device. This is just how the waterproof protective housing works. It does what it's supposed to do and you can easily access your GoPro to get your media and charge the battery. ... show more

Not a lot needs to be said: This enclosure does exactly what you want, and what they say. Given its depth rating it is surprisingly easy to use and doesn't require a lot of fumbling around with fancy seals and such. We swap batteries and SD cards for every dive so on a multi-tank day we need quick and easy access to the camera. This enclosure delivers that, allowing a swap in just a minute or two.
