Description

The fifth volume of the best-selling Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls series, 100 Inspiring Young Changemakers, shines a spotlight on extraordinary young women who are making their mark on the world today. Readers will celebrate well-known women, like Greta Thunberg, Bethany Hamilton, Bindi Irwin, Zendaya, and the Linda Lindas, and meet up-and-coming powerhouses like inventor Vinisha Umashankar, fashion designer Marine Serre, stuntwoman Sadiqua Bynum, filmmaker Taegen Yardley, poet Alexandra Huynh, and environmental activist Helena Gualinga. The girls and women in the book come from different countries and backgrounds and have a wide array of interests and accomplishments. Barrier-breaking performer Keke Palmer became the youngest talk show host in US history. Entrepreneur Mikaila Ulmer founded a lemonade company to help save honeybees. Brazilian skateboarder Rayssa Leal turned a hobby into an Olympic dream. And British body positivity advocate Megan Jayne Crabbe and Indigenous artist Te Manaia Jennings inspire kids to keep their minds healthy. Each story is told in the whimsical fairy tale style that has made the series a success and is paired with a bold, full-page portrait. With a foreword by conservationist and TV personality Bindi Irwin, the book features the work of authors, artists, and editors aged 30 and under. In addition to showcasing the stories of incredible young people, more than 60 young female or nonbinary artists from all over the world contributed original artwork to the book. Read more

  • Yes this is a “worth it” purchase.
Format: Hardcover
I bought this book for my niece last Christmas. 1 year later and she still reads these stories at night when she is with her Dad. During some family issues, I noticed her attitude and mindset changing. With preteen girls, 10 is already a rollercoaster. Listening to her retell my these stories and see her mindset shift over this last year has been amazing. She is now back in gifted classes and thriving. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Inspirational book
Format: Hardcover
I bought this for our 14 y.o. Granddaughter for Christmas. I see it is recommended for younger children, however, when I read the sample pages on Amazon, I thought even I would be inspired by this book. My granddaughter is very athletic and there are several stories about well known female athletes. There are also many other stories that fit her interests. She enjoys the book even though it is rated for younger children. I would like to see the book rated for all ages. Each story is one page long, making it easy to pick up and put down or fall asleep after reading a complete short story. ... show more

  • We love this book!
Format: Hardcover
I love this book so much! It's full of inspiring stories of young women who are changing the world in their own ways. The stories are short and easy to read, but they pack a lot of information and emotion. I learned about so many amazing people I had never heard of before, like Vinisha Umashankar, who invented a solar-powered ironing cart, or Sadiqua Bynum, who became a Hollywood stuntwoman after being a gymnast. The stories are also very diverse and inclusive, featuring girls and women from different countries, cultures, backgrounds, and fields of interest. The illustrations are stunning and colorful, and they capture the essence of each rebel girl. I also love that the book is written and illustrated by young female and nonbinary creators, who are also changemakers in their own right. This book is a great gift for anyone who loves to read about inspiring role models, especially girls and young women who want to make a difference in the world. It's one of my favorite books in the Rebel Girls series, and I can't wait to read more! ... show more

  • Amazing book for any young girl you may know!
Format: Hardcover
Bought this really cool book for my granddaughter who is 11yrs old, interested in art, sports, her faith & being an Amercan Indian young woman. I wanted her to see how incredible her sex is & that she can excell into anyone she wants to be successfully like the women in this book. When she got it, she opened it and started looking at the women & names to tell me which ones she had heard of already. Now she gets to read their full stories! Get inspired! I just wish I could have read it before giving to her, so many learning opportunities. ‘Go Girl!’ ... show more

  • Warning!!! This book contains Trans content
Format: Hardcover
Good book up until you get to the page about a trans girl. Why do you feel it necessary to put this in a children’s book?! I was going to purchase the original at Barnes & Noble, but saw it was priced lower on Amazon for the new “updated” version. Low and behold the update is adding in Trans people to the book. This book is supposed to be for young girls and woman empowerment!!! Why the hell is there a dude in it now?! This review is a warning to any other parents who dont fall on that side of the aisle. I do not appreciate this and this is why you get 1 star ... show more
