  • Perfect for lil chefs
Best part of this book is that it teaches the lil chef how to make a roue to get perfect gravy. There are good teaching elements in here so you get more than kid can do recipes. Love that they explain the proper tools and how to use them. This will be in the library for a long time.

  • Fun Recipes for Young Cooks in Training
When I was a kid, a long time ago, I had a favorite Betty Crocker cookbook for young cooks. I can still remember the photo of a castle-styled cake that I always wanted to make. There were lots of other less intricate recipes inside, and I learned how to make many of them. With that inspiration in mind, I was interested in getting this cookbook for our 5 year old granddaughter. Now that she has learned how to read, and is already into helping in the kitchen, I think she'll have fun with the recipes in this book. I like that it includes photos of the dishes so that you have an idea of what the outcome is supposed to look like. As others have stated, using a book like this and getting her involved directly in preparation may help her overcome some of her picky eater tendencies. One can hope! The reason that I'm holding back a star is that a fair amount of the recipes seem to be on the involved side. Like something you have to plan to spend some dedicated time on the weekend to work on with your young chef in training; not something to quickly whip up on a weeknight after school and homework. ... show more

  • This is adorable!
I really love introducing growing, selecting, preparing, cooking food to my kids and grandkids at a young age. I learned quickly that kids who are involved are more adventurous eaters (especially with fruits and veggies.) If your little one is texture sensitive then just through my opinion out the window. My husband still gags on a variety of food :) ANYWHO...I bought this for my 4 year old grandson. The pictures and ingredients are perfect and the recipes are easy to follow. Fun for "nailed it" fail photos when our version doesn't exactly turn out like the perfect cook book photo. I tell him it's just for inspiration. His is a masterpiece! ... show more

  • Meh…
Not exactly brimming with dinner ideas. Would have liked a preview, if not a Table of Contents, before purchasing.
