Description

The X9 golf set from Prosimmon Golf was one of the most popular on the market, and the new and improved V2 model builds on that success. Prosimmon don’t make clubs for professionals with 120mph clubhead speed who send the ball 350 yards down the fairway. They build clubs for guys who don’t nail every shot, but are looking to get round as low as they can, and improve with every shot. Forgiveness and ease of use is paramount in this set. Whether it’s the oversized 460cc driver with a massive sweetspot, the easy to use hybrid clubs that replace the hard long irons, or the cavity back irons built to be more consistent even on off-centre strikes, everything is geared towards making your bad shots less bad, and your good shots even better. The set comes complete with a deluxe stand bag with dual straps for more comfort if you carry it around the course.

  • Best Clubs for the Price Hands Down!!!
Shaft Material: Graphite/Steel Flex: Stiff
Look it, if you don't want to spend a lot of money on set of expensive clubs were you pay 20% just for the name on the side that matches your favorite golfer on TV using those clubs,(of course they are using those clubs because they are being paid to use them)and you want a good quality set where your not wasting your money later regretting the purchase, these are simply the clubs for you! I have used the hell out of these clubs for the past three weeks. I have gone to the driving range 4 days a week plus time most every night in the back yard. If you are inquiring about these clubs then your obviously not a scratch golfer and like most, want something to improve your game and also have a quality set to depend on. Now that sounded like a lot to me when I researched these clubs because of the price. If it sounds too good to be true... I can say without hesitation after receiving these clubs and just holding them in my hands, I had got a steal. I could not and still can not believe the quality of these clubs. The irons are awesome. A beautiful stainless steel jacket on the head that has excellent balance and weight, not to mention they are quite striking to look at.(though you will soon be roughing them up on the course hopefully!)They look a lot like Taylor Made Burner irons. The two Hybrids are beautiful and well made. These clubs I am still getting used to. The driver is out of this world. I mean again, for the price, I just can't believe they offer these awesome irons, two hybrids and then you get to the two woods. The 460cc titanium driver rocks! End of story. It added 20 to 30 yards to the distance of my drive but more importantly gave me a bigger sweet spot and a lot of my drives now go straight where before they would hook and slice. You also get a 3 wood as well. Just as nice. Of course you get an equally awesome wedge that I love using along with a really nice well made putter. The head covers come with the bag The bag is really nice. Again, I can not stress enough the quality of the combination of irons, woods, hybrids, putter and bag for the ridiculous low price! The bag is full of pockets, you will not need more room and has great looks. If I have any complaints at all they are minuscule. The only thing I could say, and again who cares cause you are essentially getting a garage sale price would be tiny flaws that you have to squint to see were the forging is done and maybe some microscopic swirl marks on the black finish of the woods and hybrids but again, you really have to stick it up to your eyeball to see it. In summary, this set is a freaking steal! Great quality, has improved my game 500%. Beautiful to look at, great feel, great quality and overall the best deal I've been involved with in quite some time. If your name is not on the 500 golfers in the world, then I recommend this set highly! ... show more

  • Not bad for a starter set
Shaft Material: Graphite/Steel Flex: Stiff
Ok, so first of all, let me first tell you that I don't know much about golf now, and knew even less when I bought this set of clubs. What I did know is that I needed taller clubs since I am 6'5" tall and I knew that I didn't want to spend a lot of money since I was literally just buying these to try it out. Well here is what I can tell you after using these both at the driving range and on various courses in the Houston area for the past 2 months. First of all, the irons and the fairway woods are very strong and durable. The driver, well between my inexperience and the poor quality, that had to be replaced with an upgrade after about a month because the head was badly dented. The putter, not only do I not like the design, weight and shape of it, but it is also very poorly made and after using just two months most of the black paint has chipped away leaving a very ugly metal surface underneath which is starting to pit. The grips on all the clubs are holding up quite well though, however all of the white lettering on them was gone after an hour at the driving range. The bag itself is well designed and honestly quite nice considering the price of the set. Plenty of pockets for your gloves, tees, balls, divot tool, and also has a little sliding hoop that holds onto a towel very well. The bag I received looked nothing like the one pictured, but was still nice, strong, and I have not had any issues with it at all. All in all I would have to say that these clubs are a good investment if you are just starting out, however if you plan on getting serious in the sport or have friends who are, you will probably be let down with the long term quality and durability of these clubs. The irons are great and perform well. But the rest, well... could use some work. To sum it up, if you're looking for a set of beginner clubs especially for someone who is not sure they will like golf, this is a solid choice. But if you think you're going to quickly regret going so cheap on the clubs, I would look for something used or new of a better quality. My grandfather always said, "Buy once, and buy right". And that holds true with this purchase. No regrets though, live and learn. ... show more

  • Really good set, right price
Shaft Material: Graphite/Steel +1" Flex: Stiff
My children, and even my grandchildren, are golfers. Not wishing to be left behind, I decided to take it up. I tried to buy a set for my wife, but she told me she dated a golf pro for three years before she met me, and despises the game. Married 47 years, and I still learn something new about her every day. She said I’d know more if I listened more to her, or something like that. There was a deal on Wilson clubs, but my son insisted I buy this because the driver, the 3 and the 3 and 4 hybrids are all carbon flex shafts. He thought that would help the old man. The rest are stainless steel shafts but still have a little flex. So I spent an extra Grant on the set. It’s nice. Nice bag, bipod, more zipper pockets than a Hells Angels motorcycle jacket, big red socks clearly marked to protect the driver, 3, 3 and 4 hybrids, a rain cover that snaps over the top of the bag and clubs. I especially like the putter. It looks like it was made out of spare parts from Flash Gordon’s spaceship. If Ming the Merciless plays golf on the Planet Mongo, this contraption is definitely the putter he uses. It’s got three big engraved lines on the head to help you aim, and the grip is a rounded triangle with a flattened side you can use to aim it, too. This is a putter for the absolute complete idiot, so I like it just fine. The pitching wedge deserves special mention. I hit into a sand trap that was so deep I could barely see the top of the flag from it. Between the sand and the green was a forest of high grass, so dense it looked like a good place for a lion to be hiding. My son said, donate that ball to the golf gods, I’ll throw a ball onto the green for you. Instead I used the pitching wedge. The ball went way up, almost into orbit, over the lion’s den, and dropped right by the hole. I felt like Ben Hogan. The lion can have someone else for lunch. Less than three Benjamins for this set, well worth the simoleons. ... show more

  • 6'5" and happy with these clubs!
Shaft Material: Graphite/Steel Flex: Stiff
Arrived exactly as advertised. I was somewhat worried about these being long enough for me as I am 6'5". Happy to report that I had nothing to worry about. The drivers and hybrids are plenty long (although I have used longer clubs), and the irons are adequately long as well. Do not expect the irons to be the same length as the drivers or you will be disappointed. The heads on the drivers are big, over-sized, with a huge sweet spot. I pretty much suck at golf and I was able to hit 180+ yards from the tee to the green on the 18th hole after using them the first game. The grips are very comfy and look like they will last quite some time. It's not just some cheap wrap. The bag itself is sturdy and of good quality. No stand is included. The shoulder strap and carry strap are very sturdy. Plenty of room in the bag for 14 clubs, room enough for a tight fit of 16 if need be. Pockets everywhere and even one that is padded for your phone and whatnot. If you are just getting into golf and are 5'11"-6'5" then these clubs should work great for you. Consider picking up a 56 degree Sand Wedge and possibly a 64 degree Lob Wedge to compliment this sets great Pitching Wedge. I am very pleased with my purchase so far! Oh and these clubs look good as well, the pictures don't really do them justice. ... show more

  • Perfect beginner set...especially for a tall man.
Shaft Material: Graphite/Steel Flex: Stiff
I will have to agree with all the other positive reviews. I'm 6'6" and was looking to get into golf (after playing one round which definitely convinced me...I was worried that I'd hate the game after 5 holes and never play again, thus I waited to buy a set. LOL). Being tall, I realized that I needed longer clubs (especially after that round using a standard set). After tons of research, I found these which were extended one inch. Many of the sets I saw at Dicks, Target, or other stores were "standard" length and it would be approximately ten bucks per club to extend them - which ends up being one to one-fifty for a set just to get them extended (and regripped)!!! For these to already be extended, include a full set, and include a nice bag all for about a hundred and fifty (with free shipping!) is a bonafide steal. I received them about a week later and they look EXACTLY like the picture. I couldn't be happier with the purchase. Anyone new to golf and wants a good starter set will not be disappointed with these Prosimmons! UPDATE (7/9/11): Played a round with these, and they worked great! I don't use the driver (other than at the driving range) as I won a nice one in a raffle, but the irons are solid and give a much better feel being extended than the first set I played on. Would still definitely recommend these to anyone looking to get in the game! ... show more

  • Great clubs, just a little misleading.. Irons are NOT +1
Shaft Material: Graphite/Steel Flex: Stiff
Well, to start this off let me say that I am very satisfied with the quality and build of this club set.. With that said, I was very disappointed when I figured out that the irons that come with this set are not Tall OR +1.. When I received my package, I couldn't wait to try them out.. They looked and felt great and really had me excited.. I started to mess around with them in my basement and something didn't feel right (mind you I'm 6'5).. I felt like I was still bent over way too much for these to be the tall set that they claim to be.. I went to the garage and grabbed a few of my old irons just to make sure my suspicions were correct.. Sure enough, they were the exact same length as my current set.. The driver was longer and seemed to be +1, but I don't currently own a set of Hybrids so I have nothing to go by with those.. I called Amazon and let them know about the situation and they sent me out another set the next day with the promise they would be the right set.. NOPE.. same thing.. All in all it's not that big a deal, and for the price I guess I didn't really expect anything different.. I just want everyone to know that this set is not +1 and the irons are standard length.. ONLY the Driver and Woods seem to be +1.. NOT the irons.. I love the clubs so I'll bite the bullet and pay the extra to get the +1 at a local shop, but I think they need to address this issue in the description.. I read almost all the reviews and only one other person had mentioned this problem so I felt safe making this purchase.. woe is me If you're looking for a full set of +1 clubs, this is not the deal for you.. If you're looking to some nice clubs for a great price with a +1 driver.. this is it.. I went out this past weekend and played and 18 and loved the set.. the Hybrid 3 is awesome and I nailed a tee shot about 210 that landed on the green.. oh course, I two putted for a par, but it felt great to hit that shot and my home boys couldn't wait to use that club.. I can't wait till I get the length addition and see how my game changes so I can swing like a normal person and not all super hunched over the whole time.. Amazon was great and tried to help, but the fact is the irons are normal length.. Just trying to let future buyers know before they make the purchase and end up in the same boat as me.. Great set though! Would have gave a 5 star if not for the issue stated above. I will upload a video or pictures if anyone would like to see.. Just shoot me a comment.. Thanks, hope this helps out. ... show more

  • A good starter set
Shaft Material: Graphite/Steel Flex: Stiff
I'm new to the game but these clubs are serving well so far. I have taken them out on the course 3 times and to the driving range 10 times or more. The driver has way too much flex but the irons hit well and feel firm. The bag is lacking legs and doesn't stand on its own so well on any unpaved surface, but it has a lot of pockets and looks good. The clubs look very similar to the preview pics - shiny with a pleasing modern graphic. The white paint on the rubber grips is already peeling off, though. Even though they are +1" and built for a bigger person, the grips are very thin. At some point I will have them regripped a little thicker. Also, the grips are gridded rubber sleeves, not wrapped. Overall though, it's a pretty good deal for this set with the exemption of the floppy driver. ... show more

  • Great entry level set. Enormous value
Shaft Material: Graphite/Steel Flex: Stiff
I got the extended clubs, I'm 6'6", and they fit great. I just started golfing, played my first 18 over Christmas playing with my brother in laws clubs, and wanted my own set. I really wanted the $299 top flite set but they didn't sell the extended lengths so I settled on these. Great choice I think. My bro in law just visited and the airlines left his golf bag behind so he had to play with my clubs. His opinion was that the irons were fantastic, the putter was decent and the hybrids were cool. Driver felt like you were hitting rocks but it's still plenty good for me for now. He also said I should get 56 degree wedge to really complete the set. The bag is worth $70 on a bad day so even factoring in the cost of any upgrades you want to make, the irons and the bag together are worth the $200 cost. I bought mine from amazon warehouse for a discount and the clubs looked brand new. I would highly recommend starting off with this set over a $300-400 set because by the time you're good enough to know the difference between a $200 and a $400 set, youre going to want the $1000 set. ... show more
