This grinder so far has been great! It grinds my wheat berries into fine flour. I am loving it! It does come with a small brush, which is very helpful to clean around the blades. I don’t find the need to sift at all.

The instructions are garbage. I was working blindly trying to figure out what the one sheet of instructions meant and what buttons on the thing actually did. It was as if I had discovered some kind of alien artifact and was trying to determine its function. The description of the voltage/wattage labeling on the box threw us for a loop. By our calculations, it shouldn't have been able to work on any of our indoor residential outlets, but we had a few in the garage that probably could work - but that seemed wild that this little machine would use so much more power than our washer/dryer. After some internet research, we determined this was likely an overcautious labeling that indicates the max power surge and not a sustained power usage. It would have been nice if this was more clearly indicated on the instructions somewhere, but it was not. We found an outlet that could handle a bigger power draw just in case and put it to the test - but first I had to figure out how to turn it on. From what I could understand of the instructions it said to run it for a max of 2 minutes, so I set a timer. Turns out the little red knob on the side of the machine which I think is the only way to turn it on, is a 5 minute timer. You can turn it all the way to 5 if you twist really hard, but it easily only goes to about 1.5. I didn't realize this was a timer until my second attempt at grinding when it shut off on its own before I unplugged it. The instructions say to unplug it before you open the canister, so that's how I assumed it turned off, now I know the timer shuts it off. I still don't know what the little red button does on the front. Is it a power button? I have no idea. I did see some arcing through a hole in the base of the machine for a second, but I didn't see it again and I couldn't replicate it, so I'm not sure what that was about. There's voltage stickers covering hoes, but no indication in the instructions of if you're supposed to remove them or what that is for. It just looks dangerous, so I'm leaving it alone. In the end, it worked faster and gave me a finer grind than I get in my Vitamix. I could do an entire bag of oats in half the time it took using the blender method and I didn't have to do as much sifting and reblending, so it worked very well in that respect. It's just a little scary to use and could use an update to the instructions and safety details. ... show more

This is one serious grinder! It pulverizes everything! As you can see from the photos, it ground coffee beans and cereal to fine powder. So, it works as intended. I wish the instructions were clearer for how long to spin the grinder for each type of material. I overdid it with my coffee beans. The timer is not reliable with respect to the time of grind, so don't count on it to set up your grinding. This is a machine that you learn as you go; there is no precision setting to the type of fine grits of choice. The grinder uses a sealed air-lift to force material to be lifted from the bowl so everything will come into contact with the blades. Hence, it is able to do fine powder grits. Ensure to securely tighten the lid before activating the grinder because the material inside will leak out if the lid is not tightened correctly. It is relatively quiet for the type of appliance. The media could not be loaded. I’ve had this machine for quite awhile now and have JUST now had the opportunity to put it through its paces. And man… does it do a great job! I was a little intimidated in reviewing this grinder because I’ve never done any bean/seed/grain grinding before and didn’t know what to expect. The “instruction manual” that came with it was quite limited and covered the bare basics such as “Remove the lid. Place material in hopper. Place lid on tightly. Plug in machine. Turn dial to set the timer.” That was pretty much it. Like I said… I got the basics, but that was about it. My wife had purchased some buckwheat groats for us to try. I’m not exactly sure why she picked buckwheat groats… but that’s what we had. I poured the aforementioned groats into the hopper. Replaced the lid… making sure it was tight… plugged in the machine and set the timer for 1 minute. Not really knowing how long I needed to run it. After the minute was done, I was a little apprehensive to remove the lid because it didn’t sound like it had done much. Yes, it made a fairly loud noise while grinding… but not overly loud for a powerful kitchen item. When I lifted the lid the buckwheat groats had become a very fine powder. Count me IMPRESSED!!!! This thing took some VERY hard bean-type material and turned it into a VERY fine powder within 60 seconds and it didn’t sound like it was even having to work very hard! Now… I’m not really sure what we’ll be doing with this… but my wife and daughter are very excited about it and are talking about being able to make our own flower… so, I’m going to guess that is the plan!?!?!? In my pictures you can see the buckwheat groats in their original form and then the powdery substance that the grinder produced. Also, you can hear it in action in my video. If you’re needing to grind stuff up… this machine sure seems like it’ll do the job! I've got an addendum to add in! When I wrote my review... I had not cleaned it out as of yet! There is ONE thing that I would give this a little negativity. I don't know how you're supposed to clean it! It doesn't appear as if you can remove the hopper and wash it... and you definitely can't submerge the whole grinder because it has an electric motor. I don't even think you should be putting water in it to rinse it out... but that's what I ended up having to do. I turned it upside down over the sink and sprayed water into to it in order to rinse it out. I ALMOST took a star away because of not knowing how to clean it. But maybe that's MY fault and not the manufacturer?!?!?! But then, maybe they should have put that in their instructions. Of course, it probably would have said "wash it"! ... show more

This mill was not what I expected. It’s loud but most mills are. The part I didn’t like was the lack of instruction. I burned the flour because the mill runs very hot. The item was returned and I ended up getting the expensive one and it is doing the job.
