Platform: Nintendo Switch
God Eater 3 is entertaining. It has a great story and graphics look nice even docked. There is an option for Japanese or English voices and the English acting isn't horrible. If you like anime and Monster Hunter, you should enjoy this game. Even if you don't like anime or MH it's still a good game. I bought a copy for my brother and he likes the game despite neither being an anime nor a MH fan. The combat is engaging and not too difficult so far. I played God Eater Burst on PSP back in the day so long time God Eater fan here. I like the list of weapon choices and ability to upgrade and socket skills into them. This is multiplayer RPG and you can play just about any part of the game online with others except elite quests. There is local multiplayer if your friend has a switch too. I got costume code but you have to reach a certain part of the story for it to unlock. Overall great game. ... show more

Didn't get what was advertised with pre order

OK Listen. To get the pre order DLC... You need to check your e-mail account that's linked to your Amazon account. Amazon sends pre order DLC codes that way. Check your spam box and your trash folder if it's not in your main folder. If you baught the game at a retail store then the code should be on your receipt. To redeem the code go to the Nintendo eShop and scroll down to the redeem code link. To use the costume go to any terminal and select Loadout then Appearance. If you are playing as a female you'll get the Estelle costume. If you are playing as a male you'll get the Yuri costume. Just look at my screen shot OK now that's out of the way, on with the review! I have never played any of the previous God Eater games. Pros: I like the art style. It's very Shonen. Graphics are decent. No breaks. And it's easy to tell what you can interact with. The controls are very good. I haven't seen any lag problems. The character customization is intuitive and has plenty of options. You can craft and upgrade your weapons. You can give your teammates special skills. Combat is fun and satisfying. The missions easy to figure out. But there is a time limit and you need to pay attention. There's an option to switch between Japanese and English dubs on the title screen. The story... Well let's say crazy stuff is about to go down and you and team are in the thick of it. Characters. There's plenty to pick favorites from. So far Zeke is worming his way into my heart. He's a cheeky little git with a sweet side. The meh. Music and sound effects are OK. Aside from the opening theme it's a little generic for my tastes. Voice is OK but can get a little annoying when lines like "Haven't encountered any Aragami in a while" get repeated. Cons. None that comes to mind. If you want to try before you buy, there's a free demo on the eShop. The game trailers got me interested but the demo sold it. ... show more

  • Fun alt for Monster Hunter
Platform: Nintendo Switch
I could never get into the Monster Hunter series. I gave this a shot by playing the demo and was surprised. Despite the game being fairly complex they guide you pretty well and you get the hang of it fairly fast. It's a lot more accessible than Monster Hunter. The action is fast paced and very fun. If you struggled with the MH games try the demo you might be surprised. ... show more

  • Spent over 20 hours on this game
Platform: Nintendo Switch
For those interested in a Monster Hunter styled game on the switch (that isn't an outdated port), God Eater 3 will satisfy your itch. While the story is pretty cliche and the characters are quite generic, the game-play is where this game really shines. The monsters (known as aragami) look amazing and the number of weapons will keep the action fresh. I will, however, like to point out that the multiplayer experience leaves a lot to be desired (compared to Monster Hunter). There are two ways to play with online players: joining their groups or doing raid bosses (the name of this mode currently escapes me). Joining a group can be fun, but there aren't many open groups available. Raid bosses REQUIRE a team of 8 (I believe) players to take down, but often times, you will be lucky to get even 1-2 players to join your raid. The game fills up the rest of the raid slots with CPU's which generally do nothing to the raid bosses except die. However, I will like to point out that if you're a competent player than you'll probably be able to defeat these raid bosses with just 1 or 2 other REAL players plus the CPU's. That being said, the single player AI is a good enough to easily beat the game. If you're a fan of the anime art-style and killing big monsters, then I definitely recommend this game for you. Happy hunting! My rating: 8/10 Hour spent to beat the story: about 20, if you don't rush it. Replay value: Decent if you want to farm materials and try out new weapons. PS: Recently, the developers of the game have announced additional story content coming soon this Fall 2019 (subject to change without notice). The bonus content will be FREE, so hopefully that may encourage you to return to this game if you've already played through it. ... show more
