No comparison to a stand up driveway unit filled with water or sand. Plays like a gym system. I was concerned about the "wobbling" reviews. I took my time and set the anchors in about 50 inches of concrete. If you brick a shot, or use the backboard heavily, it does shake for a few seconds. Nothing that concerns me. The backboard is very heavy. A few OSHA laws may or may not have been broken hanging it up. Something about a ladder in the back of a pickup truck. In the words of my 11 year old: "It's amazing!" We just got this at Amazon, it arrived quickly (through one of their sellers) and was in perfect condition. The install is similar to what everyone described here - my husband did it over the course of a week or so due to our schedules. Because we had read the reviews here, he bought more concrete than the instruction called for - about 10 bags which worked perfectly. The system's been up for about 1 week and is great - very little shake, plays like a professional system. We have an 11 year old son and 10 year old daughter who both love to play and this system is great, expect it will grow with them through the years. My husband's been shooting on it too and has commented on how awesome it is! We had a Lifetime portable system that was 15+ years old - so shaky (and loud when they shot!) and in hindsight should have been replaced long ago. This new net is sturdy and expect it will remain that way for years. Great price on Amazon - consistent or lower than the big box stores. I took a while to decide what to get and where because I couldn't "see" it and see how sturdy it was so didn't want to spend that kind of money if not sturdy. If you're thinking of buying, go see in the store, if necessary and buy here - the store display isn't that great so you really can't get a feel for truly how sturdy it will be when setup until you actually see one that is installed properly in the ground. Everything arrived together with nothing missing. I did hire a contractor to dig the hole and pour the concrete with the anchor system inserted. Once that set for 3 days, my son and I set the pole and bolted it down with little trouble. This took about 15-20 minutes. Pole assembly was done by myself on the garage floor in about an hour. Once the pole was bolted down, I had two more people come over to attach the backboard to the pole. We had the two adults holding the backboard while standing on ladders. Our sons stood on 5 gallon buckets and started the bolts that attach the backboard. We then attached the two bolts onto the upper bracket. Once that is done, all you have to do is attach the hoop. Really easy! The only issue is that there is some vibration after the shot or after grabbing the rim. It is not huge but it is noticeable. ... show more

The product is good but the seller (Amazon in this case) is horrible! The first shipment arrived damaged 4 weeks later. The 2nd shipment seemed like a used or a previously returned item. There were scratches on the pole and no protective sheet on the glass backboard. A missing pole cap was requested from the manufacturer (Escalade Sports who is wonderful). Amazon customer service lacked a good customer service. They offered us $50 discount for selling us a used item!! My advice is: buy this item through other sellers & avoid Amazon. ... show more

Alas, our basketball hoop is assembled. The pole, backboard, rim, hoop and height actuator are of solid construction. The cement anchoring system is sturdy with rebar, threaded j-bolts, and pole leveling/plumb adjustment. The backboard is solid and heavy. It takes a sturdy footing and pole to support it - this pole does. The height adjustment is smooth and easy for youngsters to adjust. Get ready to burn some calories installing this. With digging a 4ft deep hole 18 inches wide, mixing enough concrete to fill it and muscling the sturdy backboard into place, you'll put your body to work. Good, solid, get stronger work - nothing wrong with that. Overall, nice system with sturdy manufacturing, attractive appearance and great playability. This hoop has presence and looks attractive. I give that 5 stars. Shipping, logistics trouble, some damage in shipping and incorrect assembly instructions - I give that 3 stars. Though Amazon and the seller, Escalade Sports, made that right. The goal is made of very sturdy construction and is great for my driveway. This would be a good fit for a home court of any size. I also like that the main pole is one piece, which makes it stronger. I found that many competitors offered structural poles that were 2 pieces. Assembly was very straightforward and instructions were easy to follow. I was able to assemble and erect it with the help of two friends (three of us total). I recommend using a pickup truck bed to stand in while mounting the backboard. It's fairly heavy and requires that 2-3 people hold it while one person installs the bolts. It would've been very difficult to do off of ladders. There was one dent on the 5" pole that occurred during shipping (no fault of the seller). Informed the seller of the issue and they immediately sent me a pole pad to cover the dent and help prevent rust. I like that the anchor bolt system will allow me to uninstall the goal and take it with me if I ever move houses. Overall I am extremely pleased with the purchase and the seller. ... show more
