I ordered this helmet and the TeamObsidian helmet the same time, with the intent of returning one of them. My criteria were small streamlined design, good airflow, lightweight, visor, fit adjustability. I am keeping this one! PROS: lightweight and extremely comfortable, easy visor attachment, easy to adjust in small increments. The MIPS technology consists of a lightly foam padded plastic web that creates a space between your head and the bulk of the helmet. This makes the helmet very comfortable, almost like you don’t feel the main part of it at all. The adjustment wheel dials in the size in tiny increments, making it possible to get it just right. The foam padding strips in the interior plastic web are backed with Velcro and can also be snuggled up if needed. There was just no comparison between this helmet and the other TeamObsidian helmet, even though they are comparably priced. The other one was downright uncomfortable by comparison, and the adjustment wheel much more clunky. CONS: my only con is the visor. It is very easy to attach and detach, but I had hoped it would be adjustable and it is not. It also seems rather small. My rides are often on ocean headlands, so a visor is a must. This one doesn’t have very good coverage. I’d probably knock a half a star off for that, but not a whole one. I’m very happy with this purchase, and the other one is going back. ... show more

My opthamologist said if I insist on biking, I need a bright helmet because she sees a lot of patients who drive and can't see bicyclists! Ack! This puppy is bright! The only thing I don't like is the green brim. I wish it were black because the sun shines through it and.... It's bright!!!! I thought about switching out with my older grey brim but, of course, even tho both are giro, the old won't fit! Maybe I'll paint the under side black? Maybe put some black tape? It does fit nicely and is easily adjustable. I have a pretty tiny head. I can wear children's helmets sometimes but this tightens down easily and nicely. I was surprised the triangle part of the straps weren't adjustable but seems to fit securely so, I guess it's not necessary. Altho, I feel it's a tiny bit higher in the front than I'd ideally wear. ... show more

I like the very visible yellow, and fit and comfort are great for my average-sized cabeza. The adjustment wheel makes fitting the helmet and strap easy. The strap is thin and the buckle and is awkward. It does not retain its setting, and has to be tightened up almost every time. It feels insubstantial. ... show more

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I tried four different helmets; Smith, Giro, Trek and Bontrager brands. All of them cost more than $100. None were more comfortable than this Giro Register MIPS and this was the cheapest one! It also looked the best on me; not dorky. It felt the lightest on my head and it has just the right amount of vent holes. It has good head coverage and the visor is not intrusive. I wore it with and without my skull cap and both comfortable. Wore it for biking in hot humid conditions along with my sweat wicking skull cap and it felt great! I barely felt I had a helmet on. The straps are comfortable and easy to adjust. Changing the size is easy by turning the knob at back of helmet. This helmet will not fit an extra large head though unfortunately as I had hubby try it on at its largest setting and it was too small. I love that this helmet fits so perfectly! It is lightweight, and is so comfortable. I'm also partial to the color yellow, so this one is right in my wheelhouse! It's easy to see me coming... I purchased this primarily to move up to the improved MIPS technology. While that tech change is not visible to my novice eye, it gives me confidence to be riding with the latest safety feature. There's an extra plastic clip-on on the front of the helmet. This must be for cosmetic purposes only. Honestly, I have accidentally dislodged it several times while putting on the helmet.
