Color: Matte Grey

Size: Universal X-Large

Features

  • IN-MOLD CONSTRUCTION - In-Mold Construction fuses a tough polycarbonate outer shell with the helmet's impact-absorbing foam liner. The fusion process allows for better ventilation systems, making in-mold helmets lighter and cooler than traditional helmets
  • INTEGRATED MIPS - All Giro helmets are designed to reduce as much energy as possible while meeting and exceeding stringent safety standards. The goal of Giro's Integrated MIPS-equipped helmets is to reduce rotational forces. Giro believes that helmets equipped with this technology can reduce the amount of rotational force that may be transferred to rider's brain in certain impacts
  • UNIVERSAL FIT SIZING - Our Universal Fit helmets are sculpted to look good and fit great for almost anyone on the first try. By developing proprietary shell sizes based on specific customer groups, and combining them with an easily-adjustable fit system, it's easy for you to get the right fit, straight out of the box, without the hassle or expense of trying multiple sizes
  • ROC LOC SPORT FIT SYSTEM - It lets you dial-in a perfect fit
  • ADDITIONAL FEATURES - Full Hardbody Shell, Removable Visor, Quick-Dry Padding, Reflectivity, and 18 vents

  • A great fitting XL helmet for big heads!
Two things, first off: this is described as a dirt riding helmet. I'm mainly an urban/road rider and am more concerned about proper fit and adequate air flow. I don't care that it's described as a dirt riding helmet. Secondly, some buyers have sent this helmet back because of, or are unhappy with, the color, stating it looks white. As the pics show, it is a light shade of gray, with a matte finish, not gloss. Helmet appearance is a very personal judgement call. If you're looking for a helmet to match your bike color or how it goes with your riding gear, you may want to look further. I'm perfectly happy with the fact that it doesn't draw attention to itself. Finally, I wanted a helmet with a visor, detachable or not, as I have a custom rearview mirror that mounts to the visor. This is a detachable visor but provides a stable mirror mounting location up to 35mph (maximum speed thus far with new helmet.) I have a large head, 23.5" or 59.7 cm. I wanted a helmet that provided additional room for either a skull cap or balaclava for cold weather riding. This helmet is stated as sizing 58-65 cm. With my head measuring slightly under 60 cm, the helmet fits perfectly on my bare head or with a cold weather protection layer added. Whereas my old helmet rode on top of my head, this helmet fits over my head. My wife commented the first time she saw it on me, that this helmet didn't appear to be "perched" on my head like my old one did. This helmet also provides MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System) engineering. This specification became a priority for me after becoming aware of its existence. The whole idea of wearing a helmet is to provide maximum protection in case the worst scenario arises. The MIPS combined with the excellent fit of the helmet makes me feel that I'd have a good chance of surviving a head impact if it happened. Another fit consideration mentioned by at least one buyer stated that the non-adjustable straps didn't clear their ear correctly, referring to the "V" strap configuration not clearing their ear. This, of course, can't be confirmed until actually putting the helmet on. It either fits properly or it doesn't. And to clarify, the chin strap IS adjustable, of course, just not the configuration around the ear. One final observation about the straps, they are of a thinner, narrower material than my previous helmet, also a Giro brand. I assume that they are as strong or stronger than the straps on my old helmet. Strength of lightweight materials has advanced tremendously since the construction of my old helmet. Summary: Make sure that your head measurement is greater than 58 cm and less than 65 cm (that's BIG!). The depth of the inside of the helmet is generous, fitting my large head well. Inside size adjustment is by rotating wheel with click stop. Chin strap adjustment leaves 4" additional length available in my case. Helmet color and style is purely subjective, as is strap fit around ear. Build quality and materials is excellent, as is to be expected with Giro. All in all, a great fitting, comfortable helmet for large heads. ... show more

  • A helmet of great protection, the Giro Fixture MIPS is.
Protect your head, you must, and protect it well this helmet does. Crafted with the power of the Multi-Directional Impact Protection System (MIPS), it redirects crash energy like the Force itself. Strong, it is. Engineered in a lab of great skill, Giro’s design leads the galaxy in bike helmet safety and innovation. Ventilation, many channels it has—18 Wind Tunnel vents, to keep your thoughts cool even on the hottest of rides. Adjust it, easily you can. The universal X-Large fit and wide sizing range ensure comfort for all species and riders. Rugged and durable, the in-mold construction resists the dark side of trail abuse. Out of the box, fit well it did. No struggle. No fuss. Comfortable, secure, and lightweight—yes, much like a Jedi robe. In matte grey, it blends into the shadows, for those who ride with stealth. If protection and performance you seek, the Giro Fixture MIPS you must choose. Ride strong. Ride wise. ... show more

  • Still Have A Head
When I purchased a Segway e-Scooter, I decided I should protect my head, both because I should, and because I want to set a good example for my son. I know very little about helmets, but the first one I tried from another brand wasn't comfortable, and this one seemed to have a bunch of decent safety ratings. Then I noticed this brand is sold a lot at a nearby fancy bike shop that sells ridiculously expensive bikes to people who take biking really seriously. I figured that if those guys spend thousands on a bike, and then trust this brand for their head, it must be a good brand. The fit is very comfortable, even in hot weather it seems to keep me cool. It is very lightweight, and the adjustments allowed me to easily get comfortable. All in all, it seems like a decent helmet at this kind of price point, and I believe the protection level is as good as it needs to be for the kind of activities I intend to use it for. I also enjoyed the color choices, I was able to match the color to my scooter. And I don't feel like too much of a dork wearing it. Definitely worth considering. ... show more

  • Actually fits big heads!
This is the first helmet that has ever fit my husband since he was a young child. We ordered it basically just to say we had tried, and he was shocked to discover it actually fits! Not perched on top of his head or squeezing his head at all. He even tightened the dial a couple clicks! His head measures 64.5 cm and the top range of this was listed as 65. It was much lighter gray than pictured, but for $30 less than all the other options we aren’t going to be picky about that. Only reason for 4 stars is that the visor seems like it is slid back and should slide down closer to the brim of the helmet, but it is fixed that way and can’t be adjusted. Looks a bit weird and may be a little less effective, but for a helmet that is actually functional and comfortable for a giant head, not worth a return for us. ... show more
