I know that the double blade helped my 5 year old balance and boosted her confidence on the ice. Some would call it a crutch, but it also made her first time ice skating an enjoyable adventure. She was able to stay up most of the time, and she did not stop after ten minutes like her older cousin did. In fact, I had to drag her off the ice an hour later! These were inexpensive and perfect for a first timer. She enjoyed her Christmas present, and I definitely got my money's worth from that first skate experience. My daughter uses these about once a week since I’ve bought them , she says they are so comfortable and she is able to skate more secure . I’ve noticed she has more balance on the ice then before .     • Don't buy it. It is a waste of money.

Double blades are a bad idea per instructor. Your child will not learn to ice skates using this. My child had to switch to regular skates to learn. Basically the instructor said, if you want to teach your kid to ice skate, then go with a single blade. If you ice skate about once a year and never plan for your kid to learn then go with the double. Double blades allow your kid to stand up but they are not really balancing, therefore they will never learn to ice skate per the instructor. And you cannot glide and gliding is part of learning how to move and balance. ... show more

Blade is well designed and sturdy but boot is flimsy and does not provide any ankle support which is exactly what beginning skaters need. Returned and purchased a more stable boot for a little higher price.

I purchased the skates as a Christmas present for my three and five year old granddaughters. They will love the flowers on them and should do well with the security of the double blades as they learn to skate.

    • Nice little skates for price, issues with shipping

I ordered these skates for my neice for Christmas. Luckily, I ordered the first pair in early Nov., because for some reason they were returned and my money was refunded, but I never knew why. I contacted the seller, but did not receive an email reply. I accidentally re-ordered them from the same seller, and they did arrive, but only after I used my work address instead of my personal address. So, my personal address must have been the issue, but I wouldn't know, since the seller never responded to my question for help. At any rate, I eventually got the skates the second time, but unfortunately paid for shipping twice due to the issue mentioned above. The skates are nice, quality and my neice loved them. They are especially nice because they have the double blade-which is good for beginners and little kids. Will order another pair for my nephew. ... show more
