The Le Prix pattern was first created for Ginkgo in the late 70's in a small village in Southern France. This original design by Ginkgo has been copied and emulated by many manufacturers all over the world. However, Ginkgo remains the original manufacturer of this flatware. Be rest assured that you are buying the original. This 20-piece place setting includes four each of the following; salad fork, dinner fork, dinner knife, dinner spoon and teaspoon. Made in Korea of 18/0 Stainless Steel. Dishwasher Safe. Ginkgo. Made for your life. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and this flatware has been flattered time and again over the past 30 years. This is the original, Le Prix, created for Ginkgo in the late 1970s in a small village in southern France. Now larger and sturdier, the flatware is constructed of 18/8 stainless steel with riveted, high-end plastic handles in a choice of half a dozen colors. Casual, fun, and worry-free, Le Prix sets are perfect for tucking in the picnic basket or camping kit, and pulling out for large gatherings such as family reunions when you want something in-between disposable plastic cutlery and the best silver. The four place settings in this 20-piece starter each consist of an 8-1/2-inch dinner knife, 7-3/4-inch dinner fork, 6-3/4-inch salad fork, 7-3/4-inch soup spoon, and 6-1/2-inch teaspoon. Bought these at ~$33 when they were on sale. At that price point, they're hard to beat. I find the quality to be very good, despite not being 18/10. They are shiny and the dark green is attractive. I'm not sure if the batch I received was different from others, but the dark green isn't borderline black, as some have claimed. These fit in nicely with older Guy Degrenne flatware we have laying around the house. The thickness of the prongs of the forks isn't 100% uniform from each piece to the next, but they do serve their purpose well. The balance is great and they have good feel in the hand. I'm a big fan of flatware with rounded handles; sometimes I'll cut food with the blunt side of a fork and don't like thin edges pressing into my hand. These do not appear to be prone to bending, and they're more than adequate for what we use them for. These aren't fancy flatware pieces for parties or important guests, but they're good quality and if you live in an apartment or are young and still in school, these are fine, and likely a much better investment than cheaper pairs. At least the spoons don't bend when you scoop ice cream. I'd buy them again. ... show more

Absolutely love these utensils. I purchased a set like this 22 years ago, and have tried using other utensils, but didn't like the way the others felt as much. After 22 years of going through the dishwasher, my set was looking quite rough. I tried a couple of similar sets like these from other companies, but the handles were either too thin or too short, the fork tongs were either too squared or too narrow to hold food. I finally found Ginkgo's set on Amazon, and wound up sending the others back. These are wonderful--they have nice thick and round handles, making them easy to hold on to, and they feel quite comfortable in your hand. I love the way they look--I bought them in navy which looks great with the shiny stainless steel. The fork tongs are pointy enough to stab food well, the tongs are a good length and width to scoop up food unlike others I tried. The spoon bowls are the perfect size and shape so that they aren't too big to fit in your mouth nor are they an awkward shape that would scrape the inside of your lips as other I tried did. I'm so happy to have found these again! The only thing I wish is that the salad forks and the teaspoon handles were a wee bit longer, as they are shorter than my old set. ... show more

This Ginkgo Le Prix stainless flatware so far seems to be much more precisely designed and substantially better constructed than any of their look-alike competitors I have found to date.I need flatware with rounded handles, so we have searched them out wherever we've lived and shopped for the last ten years or more, and no other brand has had the heft, the quality of appearance and finish, or the apparent construction quality of these utensils. Lesser sets routinely faded and developed metal pits and stains within a half-year or less of daily use. We've tried a 20-piece set to test quality & durability with no signs to date of any prior products' problems, and will probably be ordering another set to fill all our needs before much longer. If serving utensils are available, they will follow soon, too. (Note: This Ginkgo set is advertised as European designed, but it IS made in Asia, like its competitors. However, this company seems to maintain higher design specifications, plus exert much stronger and tighter quality control and quality assurance to produce a noticeably better product for its customers.) The manufacturer claims that these are ''dishwasher safe''. My personal opinion (at least with our dishwasher and detergent and water) is that you can get away with that occasionally, but hand washing will produce less stains and discoloration and make this flatware last a whole lot longer than automatic dishwashing... plus their clean design makes washing fast and easy. If you need or prefer casual flatware, or have special needs like me for rounded handles, I would strongly recommend Ginkgo Le Prix Stainless as something you should very seriously consider. ... show more

I have to say quality is number one with this product. The silverware is shiny and bright. I bought the mimosa yellow color. I am very happy with it. I wanted something different. The handles are easy to hold. My previous set ,bought at a local store,had square sharp edges. Those edges made it difficult to cut pancakes. The edges always hurt my hands. Ginkgo handles are rounded and smooth. Problem solved. They are pretty. They also do great in the dishwasher. I am very pleased. Each piece of silverware comes in its individual plastic sleeve. The box for the set is easy to open. I would purchase again. You have so many colors to pick and choose from this company. Not too heavy,just right. Perfect choice. ... show more

Who would have thought it would be so hard to find black handle silver riveted silverware? That being said I was looking at a set for 3 times the price with.mixed reviews saying they were easily bendable and falling apart. So then I looked at a knock off of that set and nothing satisfied me to spend money and not be sure or to know I am purposefully buying a fake. So I settled on these, not exactly what I want but everyone seems to like them. Let me just say these far exceeded all expectations I had about them. They look great, shiny, very sturdy and seemingly very well made. I love them so much I may buy another set just to have as a back up and intend to buy other products from this company such as the server set. Worth every penny, I have spent more for much less. Update: one year later of daily use and being put in the dish washer and they still look great! None of them have fallen apart. ... show more
