  • Decent Board - Get and flash to the latest BIOS
This boards seems pretty decent. Using Linux. Hardware and performance... AM5 socket, DDR5, support for PCIE 5.0 card and two PCIE 5 nvme SSD drives (sticks) - supported by CPU. Other slots are PCIE 4/3. One slot is shared with onboard SATA port(s). The last 2 ports if I recall correctly. HDMI, DP 1.4 from integrated video from AMD CPU. WiFi 6E/Bluetooth 5.3, included an antenna, Ethernet 2.5 Gbps - Intel i255-V chip. That's the one I got. 2 Mini 3.5" audio jacks, Line out and Mic In, SPDIF. Line out supports headphones 2 ch, front speakers: 4, 5.1, 7.1 channels. Mic In jack supports mic in (duh...lol) and supports rear speakers: 4, 5.1, 7.1 channels. There is front panel header on board for your case connections if you have that. Make sure your case supports front panel supports the board header. Uses a Realtek ALC1220 chip. Lots of USB support - 1.0/2.0 (black ports), 3.2 Gen 1 on board and back of board (the old name was 3.0...blue ports), 3.2 Gen 2 (red ports 10Gbps) with one that has DP 1.4 Alt-Mode (back of motherboard USBC), 3.2 gen 2x2...20Gbps..on header and usbc back of board LED headers for CPU and strips, noise sensor header, voltage sensor header, temp sensors, plus the standard led connections for your LED case..power, reset, etc, fans, pumps... SATA ports, M.2 slots. Slow booting because it does a lot of checking on boot up (from what I can tell). I got board version 1.0 - lots of BIOS updates (DDR5 RAM seems very sensitive to overclocking). Can overclock well with the proper RAM. Get the latest BIOS (thank you AMD for the updates) and flash it to the motherboard for better hardware support and much better overclocking of memory. It's a heavy board and size is E-ATX. Need a case that can support this size. Board does look good, many layers to this board (8 I think). As for durability, I don't know yet as it's a complicated board. However, the last motherboard I bought was a Gigabyte motherboard in 2013 (over 10 years old). It still works (except a USB chip/controller) is failing now. I still use it though because my operating systems that I use still work fine. And the USB seems to work ok - the O.S. tells me about the errors though in the system logs. Will support USB 4.0 with addon card from Gigabyte. Need to see about getting the card. There is a nice case that works well for this Aorus motherboard (Anidees ai-crystal xl pro). Expensive but it supports a lot of motherboards and is very versatile with new and old tech. You can get them from Amazon. Thanks Amazon! The price is too high compared to other motherboards, but I continue to buy Gigabyte motherboards based on my history of them making good boards. If their quality goes down I will find/recommend another motherboard manufacturer. ... show more

  • This board is really well made and easy to flash.
I bought this board for a new build and it was really easy to put together I was really impressed by how thick and sturdy it is. Flashing the bios was super easy and the gigabyte tools make it even easier to flash. So Far so good with this. It did not come with a manual but that was easily found online. Flashed the bios to version f13 and it very stable. This board fits in a Corsair ICU 5000d RGB Airflow case with out issues. ... show more

  • Crap audio
I can't believe this $500 board doesn't have audio ports that just work. I have been messing with the Gigabyte audio and windows audio settings for 2 hours now, and can't get 5.1 to work. Only the ports on the back of the board or the HD audio ports through my case will work at one time. Not together like they are advertised. And no rear channel is available in the settings. Only side channels. The audio manual says they are supposed to work for front, rear and center/sub, but the options are not there. I loved my Z390 Master board, but this is ridiculous with the price premium. Why did they have to take away the standard audio ports? ... show more

  • FYI, Flash your bios.
I can't really say what's already been said about this board(x670e Aorus Master). It's a great board with a lot of features and I picked this one due to the fact that it rated one of the best for low thermals. The 4 m.2 slots is a plus and I especially like the PCIe 5 for future upgrades. I usually pick up a Asus ROG board but with the recent issues with the 7000 series CPUs I decided to go with Gigabyte. To my surprise though this board right out the gate had the same issues as the Asus boards with instability (errors, not being able to install anything, not booting..etc) But a quick bios flash to the latest version (F12a) fixed all issues. Been running great ever since. Some tips that might help fellow gamers. 1.Put your ram in dimms slot 2 and 4.(the board I received wouldn't boot with them in 1 and 3) 2. Disable the integrated graphics, even with your RTX/AMD vide card and telling windows to default to it, some games still try and run the game on the igpu. So if you're wondering why you're getting low frames on that fancy new 4090/7900xtx, this is why. 3. Get the ram that is stated intel/amd optimized. I've seen others having issues getting their ram to run at higher speeds but I haven't had issues with my ddr5 running at 6000mhz with the expo profile enabled in the bios. ... show more

  • Great Build Quality & Performance. OK features for price. Dead CMOS battery difficult to replace.
Very Solid board, better build quality than any board I've owned yet. Solid VRM, etc. BIOS (F21a at time of review) is still a little janky, more than a year since release, but this seems common with AM5 boards in general. For this price, I expected 10GB LAN (only comes with 2.5GB) and more PCIEX options (that do not conflict with SATA ports - the conflict is documented in the manual). Main reason for 3 stars - the CMOS battery came dead, which makes every hardware change a pain in the ass (BIOS reset to default every time PSU power is shut down). Why not just replace the small & cheap battery, one might ask? It's located under a massive heatsink that is attached to the back-plate, so you'd need to remove the motherboard, unscrew the back-plate (while being careful with the thermal pads), unscrew the heatsink, THEN you can replace the battery, and re-install heatsink, back-plate, etc. Way too much trouble after I've already installed M2 SSD, CPU Cooler, GPU, etc. Just barely not worth returning (and do without a working PC while it's being replaced, plus needing to re-install everything anyways). So I just decided to live with this "inconvenience". Expected better at this price. Speaking of heatsinks - one of the screw-holes anchoring the board to the standoff is under the Gen 5 M2 heatsink. Another unnecessary inconvenience (no where near as bad as the battery placement of course). If you unscrewed every screw but forgot this one, and try to remove the motherboard from your case with enough force, I imagine you could potentially crack the PCB in that area. ... show more
