  • Bang for your buck.
Color: Black
I am a self-professed headphone junkie and my collection ranges from high end brands like Etymotic Research, Sony HD, and Sennheiser HD down to Beats, Jaybird, and Bose. I have on-ear, over-ear and in-ear headphones. Some are reference level, while others have significant DSP coloration. Also, I have purchased all my headphones, so I have absolutely no allegiance to any manufacture. I’m using my Sony NW-ZX300 DAP as my source player and I have turned off all DSP features so I can hear exactly what each of these headphones have to offer. Since I love all genres of music, I tested each headphone across Metal, Rock, HipHop, RAP, Soul, Country and Classical music. Since this are on-ear headphones, I have dug up a couple of my favorite, but similar headphones to compare these to. I have decided to use Bose SoundLink On-Ear Bluetooth Headphones ($180.00) and Sennheiser HD1 On-Ear Wireless Headphones with ANC ($260.00). I would have compared these to Beats, but I have returned every pair I have ever tried. I will try to compare this group objectively based on size, comfort, stability, controls, sound quality and finally value. So, let’s get to the comparison. Physical Size) The Bose are much lighter and compact when folded, while the Ghostek are largest and heaviest. The Ghostek and Sennheiser are about the same size folded. Winner is the Bose. Comfort) While on-ear headphones are notorious for heating up and becoming too uncomfortable, I found the Ghostek no exception here. I believe it comes down to the all leather cup always maintaining contact with my ears. The Bose are a joy to wear, because they are light and have a fabric center section. I can wear the Bose all day long with no discomfort. The Sennheiser eliminates the over heating issue by only placing the ear cups on the outer ear edge and leaving some space in between the ear and the driver. But I have to admit that the Sennheiser’s require time and manipulation to make them comfortable. Out of the box the Sennheiser’s clamped like a vise and the ear-cup pads were entirely too stiff. They are getting better with age, but the Bose and Ghostek felt great right out of the box. Winner is the Bose. Second goes to Ghostek. Stability) Winner is the Bose because of their weight and perfect amount of clamping force. The rest just felt less stable due to their weight. Second place is a tie between Ghostek and Sennheiser. Controls) Switching between the Ghostek and Sennheiser headphones I kept finding my self seeking the controls, while the Bose controls were easily located. Winner is the Bose. Second place is a tie between Ghostek and Sennheiser. Sound Quality) While the Bose has excelled so far, I cannot give them the win here. The Bose headphones sound somewhat subdued when compared to than the others. I find that they are passable for most genre, but never really shine. The Ghostek have beautiful responsiveness with any percussion and the bass is right on the mark, but I found some of the mid-range colorized. One particulate weakness was any music with piano notes seemed to sound more like an electric keyboard than a real piano. This really puzzled me since they were great sounding with everything else. The Sennheiser’s, on the other hand, will bring a smile to your face (if you can make them comfortable). They also have a more open sound-stage than the others. They sound like the expensive headphones that they are. Winner is the Sennheiser. Second place goes to Ghostek. Value) The Sennheiser’s come with Active Noise Cancellation, but to be honest, it is not as effective as any of my premium over-ear headphones with ANC. I would rather have had these without ANC and at a cheaper price. The Bose’s headphones offer all day comfort, but the sound quality isn’t there to me. However, I do keep them around as they are my go to cans when I’m working around the house or my work shop. Now we come to the Ghostek which placed consistently in second place. I really liked these with any kind of Rock or HipHop genres and were very good with everything else. This is an exceptional value for the sound quality. ... show more

  • Great headphones
Color: Black
I own a few different pairs of Ghostek headphones from wireless Bluetooth to in ear. I have to say that this brand is one of my top 3. I never had a problem with any Ghostek products. The ear pads on the rapture have that iconic leather smell and are very comfortable on the ears. They fit perfect on my head and are perfect for travel and my everyday workout. They don't move around when I'm doing cardio and stretches. They are lightweight. I can turn them from wireless to wire. The battery life last a good amount of time. The volume is loud enough to block out any background noise which I like because I don't like people interruptions. If I had to compare these headphones, I would compare them to beats. Features •40mm Graphene Drivers Produce a Next-Level HD Audio Experience •Equipped with Bluetooth 4.1+EDR & aptX Audio Technology •Fitted with the Finest Soft Protein Leather Ear Cups • 3.5mm Audio Jack for Easy Inline Aux Cable Use •Take Hands-Free Calls On the Go with Built-in HD Microphone •Supports ShareMe Function for Simultaneous Listening •LED Battery Status Indicator Reminds You to Charge Up The price is right for them and recommended them to anyone that is looking for a nice pair of headphones 🎧 ... show more

  • The apex of style, comfort and sound. So good this is my second time buying a pair.
Color: Red
I waited a while before I decided to write a review for the Rapture headphones by Ghostek. Not because I did not have good things to say. Not because I didn't love them but I wanted to wait until a specific event happened. And it did. I waited to see that they did everything I wanted from a high end (yes I said high end) enough that I would purchase a second pair. And the answer is a resounding yes. Now you may ask why if they are so great why buy a second pair. The answer is simple. My vanity was as satisfied by the Raptures as much as my sound enjoyment. Back in January I purchased the brown ones ( https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B078PR4486/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 )because they just exuded class and taste. Since then they have been my go to bluetooth headphones and I have received compliments on how they look and how they sound (yes, I made friends who commented on the looks listen to them). Sometime soon after I decided to get my 54 year old body back in shape. So I purchased red and black running shoes, red and black work out clothes and so on and began running again. Then while looking at my past purchases to see what I wanted to review I came across my original brown Raptures and clicked on the link to refresh my memory on the specs. Then I saw they came in red as well and thought they would be a good match for my workout outfit. So I ordered them. I know you are waiting for my impressions on the sound quality, comfort and performance and I will do so in a moment. However before I did I wanted to get across the point that they are so good the question was not of satisfaction with what I had but pure vanity. Now onward to the real review. Comfort. These are some of the most comfortable headphones I have owned and given that I have a headphone collection of more than 30 pairs is saying something. These were obviously designed for fit and comfort. From the way they slide on the headband rails which give perfect positioning no matter how your head is shaped to the extensive cloud like softness of the pads these are definitely extended listening headphones. Pairing. The pairing process was literally press and play. I have used them on my iPad, MacBook Air, Google Pixelbook Go, Google Pixel slate, Pixel 3a and iPhone 11 smartphones at one time or another and not once did I encounter an issue with pairing. Sound. To set expectations I mainly listen to jazz, blues and classical. And my analysis of the sound signature is based on those genres. The sound quality if top notch. They deliver clean sound either wireless or using the included 3.5mm cable. I would classify them to be somewhat V shaped but without either peak being raised above a more natural sound. There is both bass and highs present but not overpowering. Vocals are clear but tend to favor female vocal range. Sound isolation. These are not ANC headphones so the sound isolation is passive only. But here is where the design and fit come in to play. While they may not block out jet engines or a train ride they do very well with office type environments. Battery life. After months of use I can state that they deliver on the battery life claims. Yes there are other headphones with longer battery life, but I will take sound quality every time. And really having to recharge them every 3 or 4 days in not really hardship. So for me they check off every box I care about. Fit; yes. Comfort; gotcha covered Sound quality; oh heck yeah Style; ditto And all of this at a great price. I can't say I will need to buy another pair now that I have 2 which cover both my professional and active styles; but you never know ;) ... show more

  • The best wireless or wired set of cans on the market for the money.. PERIOD
Color: Black
I've never heard a Bluetooth headset sound this GREAT! That's right, not "passable" or even "good". And, if your not sold on Bluetooth, run them wired, they will blow you away. In short best pair of wired or wireless cans I own. Tight bass, clear highs, warm mids all in a beautiful, sturdy and well designed button configuration. I've owned Shure, Sennheiser, Bose, AKG, Klipsch and numerous other brands and these sound as good or better than any of those and at $129, these are a no brainier. CLARITY, CLARITY, CLARITY!!! ... show more
