  • Nice and warm!
Size: X-Large Color: Black
Having owned several other Gerbing products over the years I've found this one to be made from different materials than previous garments. This is a thinner jacket overall and has more of a slick nylon feel than the other garments in my closet. Here are the plusses and minuses. Plus is the thinner garment (this one) is easier to fit under your outer jacket or other garments. Minus is it wouldn't be a warm as the previous design UNLESS you have access to power which of course activates the warming panels and creates the heat for you. Which is of course probably why you purchased it in the first place! However with the older style garments, you could wear them just as a separate insulating layer without adding power if desired. I don't believe this current garment would provide much if any needed insulation without having power for the heated panels. I wore the garment a couple of days ago for some high speed interstate travel with temps in the mid to high 50's and the heat provided underneath my Harley Davidson brand heavy leather jacket was very nice and kept what would have been a very chilly and quite uncomfortable 2.5 hour ride quite warm and comfortable. Of course the addition of heat to your torso, arms and neck area also allow warm blood to heat the rest of your body such as legs and hands. I do have heated gloves, but didn't bring them along on this ride. I also didn't bring my chaps which I probably should have. The forecast for the day was sunny with high's in the 70's. Weatherman was wrong and it was cloudy, foggy and about 10-15 degrees colder than the forecast. A BIG MISS! So, I was glad I packed the jacket liner as a last minute item. I almost left it at home! After that missed forecast I was very happy that I didn't! Bottom line, these are pretty expensive garments... BUT if you have never ridden without them, you have NO IDEA what you are missing and how much more comfortable they can make even a marginally uncomfortable ride into one where you are warm and happy! Highly recommended! By the way, I do have the older type controllers, not the newer Bluetooth ones. You WILL NEED to purchase controllers for these garments if you do not already have them. Mine use small knobs which control one of both garments if you are wearing more than one. For example you have one knob for the jacket and another one for the gloves. This is what I use for riding in Texas. I do not have the warming pants or socks, which are available. For me the jacket and gloves cover the coldest weather we're likely to have here. Or the coldest weather I'm likely to ride in! ... show more

  • This heated gear changes everything you ever knew about riding in cold weather
Size: X-Large Color: Black
If you're going to ride in the cold then you need to get all the gerbing gear. You will need jacket liner pants liner socks gloves the whole shebang. Believe me it is a lifesaver and it makes writing in cold weather like being in your car. comfort is unbelievable the material quality is fantastic the functionality is great and the style can't be beat. Install it on your motorcycle and then start riding and enjoy cold weather riding. I'm 5'10 170 lb I originally ordered large send it back and got medium. So if you think you wear an extra large or large go down two sizes and they will fit perfect do not order your normal size it will be too big to keep you warm. Remember this is your mid layer and it needs to fit snug against your body ... show more

  • Heats very well
Size: XX-Large Color: Black
This heated jacket looks very nice because of the design. The fit is a bit oversized ,which is good for me.It is fairly thick so I use it on some motorcycle rides. (Have not crash tested it). The battery can last a few hours depending on your settings. You definitely want to were a thinner base layer to get more of the heat ,but I have worn a hoody under it and still felt the heat. It is comfortable and the zipper is robust. ... show more

  • The cut is tailored for Americans
Size: Large Color: Black
Overall good, the heated collar is the best part. BE AWARE: the heating elements in the sleeves are only on the outside of your arms, not on the inside of the crook of your elbow/arm where the cold air actually impacts your arms. I'm 6'1" tall and 210 lbs. As people noted, the sleeves are way too short and the chest heating element doesn't really touch my chest because there's too much room around the belly. So, it's made for harley riders ;) ... show more

  • Buy the best. It’s worth it. Buy the best. It’s worth it.
Size: Medium Color: Black
I’ve been riding for 20 years. I live in Central California but when it’s under 60*, I’m toasty like a warm cinnamon bun in my jacket. Gerbings has a lifetime guarantee and I’ve sent various items back over the years (gloves, hub’s jacket) for repair. The repair turnaround is quick. I wish it has more of a cuff to hang onto when I put on my leather jacket over it. Don’t buy it too large or the neck portion will be too large to keep you warm. As it is, I have to wear a high collar shirt or a scarf around my neck or it’s too warm on my neck. Don’t be tempted to buy cheaper. This will last you a lifetime. ... show more

  • Great heated gear for winter motorcycle riding.
Size: Medium Color: Black
If you’re doing motorcycle rides during winter this is a must have! I’ve ridden with the temperature in the low 40’s and stayed comfortable.

  • Money pit gotta buy $100 worth of extras to get to work
Size: Medium Color: Black
I spend $250 for a jacket liner that I can’t use unless I spend $100 on a wiring harness and a controller! I bought one a few years ago and it came with everything I needed to use it and cost less. I don’t mind paying for something but I expect it to be able to be used without having to buy other things to make it work. ... show more

  • Heated gear connections explained Heated gear connections explained
This review ties together 4 products. Gerbing's Gyde 12 volt Jacket Liner-Powersport-Large/Regular Portable Temp Controller Powerlet SAE To Coax Female Cable (This is probably the one you want.) Powerlet (PAC-038) Coax Male To SAE Cable (Don't understand the need for this one, but someone probably wants it.) I'm posting this to provide some clarity around the typical connections for heated gear. I bought a Gyde Motorcycle Jacket Liner that's labeled Gyde Supply Co. and "Powered by Gerbing." I previously had an old Gerbing jacket from 2002, and it only had SAE (pigtail aka Battery Tender connections) for power. The modern jackets seem to connect to the power source using "coax" connections. It's much more common to run an SAE/pigtail/Battery Tender connection directly from your motorcycle battery than to run coax. So I needed to buy an SAE to coax converter cable. If you're running an SAE connection from your motorcycle battery, you want a Powerlet Coax Female to SAE Cable. (I mistakenly bought the wrong one at first.) Starting with the battery, here are the connections: Either 1 or 1 Alternate: 1) Fused battery terminal to female coax connector. This came with the new jacket. 1 Alternate) Powerlet Coax Female to SAE Cable. 2) The side of the controller that faces the power is male coax. 3) The side of the controller that faces the jacket is female coax. 4) The wire coming from the jacket to the controller is male. For 1 and 1 Alternate, regardless of which battery connection you use, you want a fuse on it. If you only use the jacket, use the 7.5 amp fuse that came with the jacket. If you have other heated gear hooked up to that power line, you'll have to do some math to pick the correct fuse. The jacket comes with a chart that spells out the amp draw for jacket, gloves, etc. I hope this helps you buy the correct gear in one shot! ... show more
