Our heritage runs deep, and the legend of Joe Gerber's wild idea still inspires everything we do as we look toward the next generation of innovations.

  • Great Pilers for Fishing!
Excellent quality and very comfortable in the hand.

Great pliars

  • Best of the Best
These pliers are top notch! If you are looking for quality, don't look anywhere else. I've purchased all kinds of pliers and they either rust, corrode or seize up in salt water. I fish inshore and offshore at least every other week. all my pliers get tons of saltwater on them, which means they also mess up, even after rinsing them. I treat these Gerber's the same way I've treated all the other pliers, no visible rust or corrosion after almost a year of using them. Spend a few bucks more and get quality. The right tool for the right job. You won't buy anymore pliers after these. ... show more

  • Exceptional pliers... with one quick fix
As they are, these pliers would get 4/5 stars. They check all the boxes, but do have the commonly known issue that the jaws don't fully close. Gerber prioritized the carbide cutters closing first for some reason. But it's an easy fix. All you need to do is grab some aluminum duct tape (or another tape) and put a couple strips under each of the removable plier faces. Adjust it so that the pliers close to your satisfaction. Takes 10-15 minutes at most ... show more

  • Will the lock hold-up in daily use?
This Gerber product appeared great online, but my very first impression of the tool looking at it while still in the packaging was: "What a Chintzy Looking Locking Mechanism". Yes the little "blue aluminum flip lock" is wafer thin (like soda can pop top thin, the part that attaches to the can and always breaks). So flip on, flip off, flip on, flip off...loose tolerances! Decided to go full on 1980's Mr. Miyagi Karate Kid style: "flip on, flip off, flip on, flip off" for a few minutes to see if it will break or bend before even unboxing it. On a $90 pair of premium fishing pliers carrying the "Gerber Name", I would expect this lock to be a well machined beefy part and operate smoothly with tight tolerances, like the rest of the pliers components (which are outstanding by the way). This was the "Higher level SALT RX version" and the lock will be utilized multiple times per day on the fishing boats, day-in day-out for years. As a former military guy, Gerber usually makes decent products. This product is very decent and rock solid except for the chintzy lock, but hey it does give you that Made in China aura you can discuss with your fellow fisherman. Will keep it and give it a go, but my question is will it last under regular use (locking mechanism), only time will tell. At least as a consolation prize, the pliers carry an Unlimited Lifetime Warranty" so any failure will get rectified with a new pair as needed. Maybe even with an improved locking mechanism by that point if Gerber is listening??? ... show more

  • Loved so much after using, I bought two more!
Wonderful fishing pliers!!! After purchasing and using, I bought two more pair! A lifetime supply I expect. And that includes my boys lifetimes. So much better build quality, ergonomics in you hand, and ease of use than the dozens of cheap pliers I’ve wasted money on on the past. I have a thirty year old pair of Orvis pliers that I still use, but couldn’t bring myself to get the “good stuff” again. What a waste of time and money! Get these, use them, keep them oiled occasionally, and they will last! Buy these once or buy the Chinese crap five times. Do the math! ... show more

  • People posting that pliers don’t close
Pliers close all the way if you put a grip on them, they are made that way so you can pull fishing lines tight without damaging it? They work perfectly fine and functions as meant. A little high but should last a lifetime

  • Pliers do not close all the way.
All the reviews are correct, these pliers do not close all the way because the line cutter blade. Removing the line cutters by using T6 torx bit solves the problem if you do not use the line cutter function of the pliers. But this is a catch 22, the point of the full closure is so you can use the pliers to grip and pull tag ends for tightening knots, but now that you've removed the cutter, you'd need a second tool to cut the line. To me this is just super silly because a $90 pair of fishing pliers should not have this issue. I kept it because it’s actually an excellent plier, light weight, nimble, ergonomic, and strong. I mainly surf fish using lures and pre-tie all my leaders in a pouch and I have no need for a line gripping tool. ... show more
