Four stars for this router bit. We're just getting into using our CNC machine and have been using various bits and tools for different projects. The bit we're using now is this 90degree Vbit. This bit enables us to replace the blades when they become dull. Note, this ships in a thin cardboard box so we'll be getting a small plastic container to store it in. Other bits we've purchased come with a plastic container, so it's odd that this one did not. This bit comes with a tool for replacing the blade, though we haven't needed to replace the blade as of yet. This is our first replaceable blade bit and it has worked very much like the other, fixed blade bits, we have. Basically, due to the replaceable blade - you can use both sides ... The reason for this is that once the bit does become dull or have issues you can unscrew the blade and rotate it 180 degrees and have a totally new bit blade to work with. Good v bit for routing signs. Uses generic inserts readily available. I have a couple of these around that I've been using often with no trouble.

The media could not be loaded. I was impressed. I still need to dial in best feeds and speeds. For the test I used 100 IPM & 10,000 RPM . The African Mahogany (darker red) cut great with no finishing pass. It didn’t need it. I tried it on Philippine mahogany (light blond). There was a bit of tear out, but everything tears that out. It had no trouble on Walnut. I don’t have a source for the replacement blades just yet. I imagine They’re available somewhere. You’ll probably want to get that figured out before you buy this bit. Minor things; It came with a nice hex key to change the blades, but it's the wrong size. It didn't come with a case. Just foam packaging. I hope the video is not too loud. ... show more

    • BIG Heavy Bit with Smooth Cutting Capability.
Style: 1/2" Shank--2" Cutting Diameter-120 Deg
Cuts a smooth wide groove when set at the appropriate feed rate (too slow will cause burning, too fast will cause tear out) and allows for fluid movement if you are free handing your cut lines. I tested this bit in a Festool 2200, 3HP router and while the power of the router was never a question, controlling the router and quality of cut were depending on the amount of material you were removing. This bit has a ½” and [imho] requires a heavy-duty router for deeper cuts. I would recommend using it in a fixed router or router table rather than a hand router if you are going to cut any depth. It is designed for a CNC machine and works very well in that purpose. The carbide blades are replaceable, and a replacement tool is included. The blades remained very sharp after cutting several types of hardwood and will probably have the same life expectancy of other “main stream” carbide tools. This bit come in a foam box and would be nice if it had a plastic box in which to store it. This manufacture does not offer any replacement blades and I haven’t discovered a source yet although I am sure they exist. ... show more

    • Well Made, Large Enough for Any Reasonable V-Groove, Like the Insert Tooling

I ordered this cutter to do some custom bead board. I was especially interested in the fact that it uses insert tooling, so it can basically be resharpened forever, and it's big enough that it will run any V-groove that I'm willing to be holding onto a hand router to machine. I'm not disappointed, the fit and finish of this bit is quite good. I'm not saying it's a Leitz, but for the cost it certainly does the job and you could even do some light production work with it without being afraid of a failure. It's wickedly sharp out of the box. I can't find anything about it I don't like, so I will say if you need a big, capable V-Grooving bit, then give this one a try. ... show more

This bit performed nicely on a quick freehand test in cherry in a handheld router. Impressive clean cut, even at the point. Using a template and router bushing guide would produce even smoother results.
