Description

Generac’s GP6500 portable generator with CO-sense™ technology provides lots of power while protecting you and your home from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning. If you inadvertently use the GP6500 indoors or in an enclosed space, CO-sense will automatically shut off your unit when increased CO is detected. This unit also offers PowerRush™ advanced technology, which delivers more than a 40% increased starting capacity. Generac’s OHV engine and large-capacity steel fuel tank ensures long engine life and run times, while the steel tube cradle provides added strength. The low-oil feature protects the generator from damage. The GP6500 can be easily transported across rough or difficult terrain with the heavy-duty wheels and easy fold-down handle. I have had this generator (10000/8500W) generator for about 4 months. Followed all the directions for setting it up, all of the directions getting it started and running including shutdown. Did a break in of the motor per the manual. First major storm of the season the generator would start up and run for a few minutes and would then shutdown. Tried it about 5 or 6 times and had the same thing happen. Checked to see if the carbon monoxide sensor was shutting down but it wasn’t. Tank was full of fuel, the right amount of oil. Checked to make sure I hadn’t done something wrong by reading the manual but everything should have been okay. Gave up and got out my 20 year old Onan generator that I wasn’t nearly as fastidious with and it started up and ran fine. Terrible waste of waste of money buying this Generac generator. When the Generac did run it would load up even when switching on a few lights, I couldn’t believe it. The Onan generator was roughly half the capacity and I never had any issues like that.. ... show more
