It takes a little practice to hold/use the tester correctly to get an accurate reading. It becomes easy and fun to use once you get the hang of it. Other testers I have tried before detected moissanites as diamonds. I picked this Gemoro tester for its reliability in distinguishing the two.

The GemOro UltraTester 3+ works well for testing natural diamonds, moissanite, and white sapphires with precision. However, I’ve noticed it struggles with lab-made diamonds, consistently showing them as moissanite. While it's a reliable tool for natural stones, keep in mind that it might not provide accurate readings for lab-grown gems. Overall, it’s useful but limited in this regard.

I used this tester for all applicable vintage and designer jewelry. The tester always correctly identified the diamonds and sapphires. This time it detected moissanite on what was sold to me as one carat diamond incrusted earrings. I was able to return the jewelry and saved a lot of money.

I love this tester! So far, it works perfectly, has identified all known quantities and I feel confident using it to identify stones that need testing. It's a little pricey but I'm willing to pay it to know which stones are diamonds and which are moissanite.

First the probe tip cap broke, and the probe tip came off. I got it working but the chargeable batteries didn’t work, i place 2 set of different brand new batteries and still did not work, only works with the provided USB cable and its power supply adapter, i know for the cap my warranty is useless i take the loss but bad product, i regret not going with the same brand of tester i’ve been using for more than 20 years, better get Presidium tester, like old saying if it isn’t broke don’t fix it.

I’m not sure about this unit. Sometimes it tests everything as moissanite. Not very accurate at all.
