  • Likely good tool but BAD packaging
Haven't used the tool yet. The packaging is very bad. The wrenches are held in place by hard plastic strips, each attached to the back. Only way is to rip it off with great foce. Plastic flying everywhere. Then you throw everything away . Not useful as a permanent storage Had to buy that extra.

  • Good set, came out to $3 per wrench
I paid $59.91 on June 6th, price fluctuates a little around $60, then jumps past $100 when the sellers change. Give it a few days and it's usually back in the $60 range again. Great wrenches. These are the less expensive type without a forward/reverse lever, and the box ends are straight, not angled but the wrenches themselves are Gearwrench brand and the quality seems on part with other Gearwrench tools I've had (which is to say very good in finish and durability). This set includes; Standard; 1/4" x5" long 5/16" x5.5" long 11/32" x6" long (waste of a wrench & a wrench slot IMHO) 3/8" x6.25" long 7/16" x6.5" long 1/2" x7.125" long 9/16" x7.625" long 5/8" x8.375" long 11/16" x9" long 3/4" x9.75" long Metric: 6mm x5" long 8mm x5.5" long 10am x6.25" long 12mm x6.875" long 13mm x7.25" long 14mm x7.5" long 15mm ×8" long 16mm x8.375" long 17mm x9" long 18mm x9.5" long So the smaller wrenches are pretty long for their sizes (a 5" long wrench gives a lot of leverage on a 1/4" fastener head) but the larger sizes are on the shorter side. I don't think I've ever seen an 11/32" fastener on anything I own, so that one is just taking up a wrench slot for no reason, and I would have liked the kit to include a 19mm (common for Jeep suspension bolts), but for around $60 I have no complaints. If you price these out individually, just a 5/16" gear wrench is around $7 so the whole set for around $3 per wrench is a good deal. Recommended Pictures added below of the 3/8 & 9/16 Gearwrenches vs Craftsman wrenches with the fwd/rev levers & angled heads just for comparisons sake ... show more

  • Truck tools
Two things right off: the seller who says they are made in Taiwan is full of crap. They’re made in China. That pisses me off . Second, getting them out of the packaging is a pain in the *ss. Now, as for the tools themselves. They’re not that bad. It’s no secret how I feel about Chinese crap. And if I had realized these were Chinese I would never have ordered them. But I did, they’re here, they’re cheap and returns are a pain in my nether regions. And the only reason I got them in the first place, was to fill in a few holes in my old USA Crafstman set. So I’ll try to pretend they’re from Taiwan. lol. Actually they could be a lot worse. The chrome has been pretty well applied. The ratcheting mechanism is fairly smooth. Not reversible, but I knew that going in. The machining is good. It kills me to say that, but I’m being honest. God only knows what the hell the steel really is. Or how the heat treat was done in some Chinese sh*thole. So I put the 1/2” on an alternator bolt and with a cheater bar I torqued the snot out of it. It didn’t snap. For $50 bucks I am gonna keep them in my truck. Live and learn. No, I’m never gonna recommend Chinese crap, but if you’re only gonna use them for a roadside repair, you’ll probably be okay. • Nice Strong Wrenches
Really nice wrench set. Has a great selection of sizes in both SAE and metric. Quality seems great. The steel is pretty hard. Much better than Husky. I did one job and the Gearwrench was like new when I finished. The Husky has dings on the mating surface (I included pictures, you can see the dents on the husky on the open end. The Gearwrench open end is perfect). I think I could bend or break the Husky if I kept using the 9/16" on this job. The Gearwrench has less flex and did not start to round off the nut. This comparison is after one job where I used both brands 9/16" head to head. I work with a lot of water so I recommend an oil soak once a month or so on the ratcheting box ends of the Gearwrench to keep them rust free. ... show more

  • They don't look used it's probably dirty manufacturing conditions
Wrenches arrived pre-dirtied and ready for use! Kind of grossed me out. I cleaned them since I didn't want the HongKong flu. They don't look used it's probably dirty manufacturing conditions. I had to destroy the packaging to free them. I picked up a couple Ernst Manuf. Gripper wrench organizers to keep them separate. I picked them up for an upcoming job with long bolts and not enough clearance for a ratchet/socket combo. I may update after use. They are quiet and smooth with a bright smooth chrome finish. They look just like the real thing ;-) I may have to turn in my man card after complaining about dirty wrenches and non-reusable packaging though. ... show more

  • Best budget ratcheting wrenches
I was warned to buy a higher quality set of ratcheting wrenches. Well I’m glad I didn’t listen! These wrenches are great!! I’ve use them almost daily for months with no issues. Some I’ve put way more poundage on than I would think they could handle.. and none have broken or slipped! My only gripe is the heads are flat and no lever for gear switch. So if you get in a weird spot you can get the wrench stuck. ... show more

  • long term review
I have had these for about 2 years now and they get used on the regular. I wrench on my own project cars as well as my friend's cars about every 3 or 4 days (restoring and building on an old Toyota 86 over the last 2 months or so) and let me tell you, these things are worth their weight in gold! If you are used to using regular peasant grade open ended box wrenches then you need to elevate yourselves and allow yourselves into the light that is the ratcheting wrench. ... show more
