Everything about this kit is high-quality and easy to work with. Let’s start with the amp it’s small it’s rechargeable and it actually sounds great. Where were amps like this when I was a kid? The guitar itself is very high-quality. It looks great, and it has great tone. It set up pretty much out of the box. Cosmetically and functionally it’s nice. Slim neck profile, all pickup positions worked well. Gloss neck, rounded feet ends, coil splitting, and a beautiful finish and wood. Overall I’d recommend it. The tone I got out of it is close to the creaminess of a strata neck pickup. And the coil splitting was nice. All the goodies were also nice to have. It comes with everything you need to start playing, including the guitar, case, a mini amp, tuner, extra strings, cleaning cloth, amp cable, and picks. The guitar feels good in the hands and sounds pretty similar to an entry level Fender Stratocaster. The body is made from real Mahogany and the wood design gives it a high end feel. The amp is battery powered and rechargeable via USB C, which is convenient, but it is not the highest quality. It’s perfect for someone just starting out but if you want to take guitar any bit seriously, you will likely need to purchase a real amp as it will produce much better sound as well as the ability to manipulate things like gain and distortion at a higher level. The guitar tuner is also a bit finicky, but it works. For a better playing experience, I recommend replacing the strings with higher quality strings like Ernie Ball. Overall, I am very satisfied with this GearIT Electric Guitar starter package and would recommend it to other beginners. For the price, which is $200 at the time of writing this review, you cannot go wrong. ... show more

I came across this while looking for an inexpensive guitar that offered a good starting point for an early teen to explore electric guitar. I wanted something decent, but not overly expensive, as there is no guarantee this is the instrument for them. They are also exploring several other instruments, so it seemed wise to see what one rises to the top before a substantial investment. This guitar kit has a lot to offer, first off, it is a replica of a Fender Strat HSS - the HSS referring to the combination of a Humbucker with two single coil pickups, which gives this a wide range of tone, selectable via the 5-way pickup toggle switch and pull-up Tone knob. The kit is very complete, especially at this price point. It included the guitar, a fabric gig-bag style case, a small battery powered 5 watt practice amp, a clip-on tuner, a set of replacement strings, 6 picks, a polishing cloth and a cable. At the time of my order, all of this was listed at $198 with a $40 off coupon, making this a tremendous value. So much so, I was intrigued to check it out. The guitar looks amazing. I was not expecting anything this nice for such a low cost. The workmanship and finish is stunning, I could not find a single scratch or defect. The tuners get the job done, but are nowhere near pro grade. The bridge and whammy bar work as they should. I had to adjust the bass E string bridge saddle as it was a hair too low, other than that, the guitar was setup well. The frets are nicely rounded and perfectly inlaid into the neck. The tone and volume knobs functioned well with no static, the bottom tone knob pulls up to activate the Humbucker pickup, the 5 way toggle switch and pull-up tone switch provide an easy way to mix and match pickups for a variety of tones. I found the clip-on digital tuner a nice accessory, however, it was not as consistent as my Korg tuner. Being a clip-on, placement affects the precision of the tuner, for this reason, I prefer tuners that have an input jack or microphone. The "feel" of the guitar, thickness and style of the neck, and so on, are highly personal, so I won't dwell on how thick or rounded the neck is. The guitar felt OK to me, however, this is the only Fender style guitar I have, so I have no reference for this style. The same goes for sound, considering the price, once setup properly, this guitar can generate a wide variety of voices. The combination of the two single coil and the Humbucker pickup provides a lot of versatility to get the sound you want. As far as sound and playability, the guitar is surprisingly good, yes it pales next to the only two other guitars I have for a reference, a Gibson Les Paul and a Dot 335. However, that is to be expected as those guitars cost thousands of dollars, which is why I ordered this one, so beginner players, who are unlikely to notice the difference, aren't using my expensive guitars. The battery powered amplifier is sufficient for a beginner practice amp. The push button activated over-drive is all distortion all the time, with seemingly no adjustability (gain did not seem to affect the amount of distortion). The amp has two small speakers, and, again, considering the price of the entire kit was only $150, sounds OK. Being powered by a rechargeable battery is very convenient, that coupled with the small size makes this a highly portable practice amp. The amp charges via a USB cable which is provided, however a USB charger is not. Any 5 volt USB charger should work. Bottom-line: This kit provides a lot of value for such a low cost. I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the guitar is. I doubt you could by the pickups alone for the price of this kit. This is an inexpensive way to get someone started with electric guitar. The instrument is certainly playable, and the HSS pickup combo offers a huge variety of personalities that are fun to explore. I debated this kit over a used guitar in this price range and I feel I made the right decision - no regrets, an amazing value. ... show more
